Could I Stay In London After Studying Abroad?

I realize that this probably sounds stupid, and I’m not even sure if it’s a possibility, but I’m afraid that once I do a year in London I won’t want to come back to University of Iowa. I’m currently a first year Cinema Major at UI with a 3.5 GPA. Is it possible to stay there and finish my education through a UK school after next year?

People do it. But the requirements for graduation are different, timing is different, etc. I know a student from GW who ended up transferring to her study abroad university.

Do you actually have study abroad funded and organised? Which university? Is It an academic year?

UK unis don;t usually do transfers, but I am not sure you are talking about a public UK uni?

It is possible, but you would have to apply via UCAS to the programme that you wanted to study in the UK and ensure that any classes that you take during the year abroad count towards the UK degree.

I am not 100% sure but I don’t think you can transfer into a UK undergrad like you can in the US. If you transfer into a UK school you would start as a first year student. Your US transcript will count towards your entrance requirements and it may exclude you from a foundation year if applicable, but you will be regarded as an international first year with international fee status and your US credits wont transfer. The good news is in London undergrad is usually 3 years so you will still graduate at the same time as if you stayed in the US. Some of the private schools in the UK may be different but without knowing the institution it is hard to say. The best way to find out is to speak directly to the international admissions at the university concerned. Good luck.

Right, there are sketchy privates in the UK that would take money off a starry eyed foreigner just as there are in the USA.
