<p>Can someone tell me if I overdid the plot? </p>
<p>Lilys mother died on December 3, 1954, when Lily shot her by accident.
Lily and Rosaleen start walking so Rosaleen can be legible to vote.
On the way to the voting station three men say racial slurs to Rosaleen.
The three men came to the sidewalk and stepped in front of Rosaleen and Lily, Rosaleen poured snuff on their shoes. They got into a fight and Rosaleen went to jail.
T. Ray picked Lily from the station but left Rosaleen there, he punished Lily by making her kneel
on grits.
Lily went back to the jail to hear that Rosaleen is in the hospital. She goes to the hospital and gets Rosaleen out by tricking a guard.
Rosaleen and Lily ran away from Sylvan and started heading toward Tiburon, South Carolina.
They hitchhiked half way there with a truck driver.
When they got to Tiburon, they ended up staying with August, May, and June. Lily wanted to know if her mother been there before.
Lily helped August around the farms while Rosaleen helped may in the kitchen and the house.
Lily learned the religion that August, May, and June practiced, called The Daughters of Mary.
During a meeting Lily got up to touch the wooden Mary but everyone grew silent and looked at her because she was white, so she passed out.
Lily met a boy named Zach and started liking each other.
Zach went to jail because his friends got into a fight with some white people.
When May heard the news of Zach going to jail she killed her self.
During a The Daughters of Mary meeting Lily told August the whole story about her running away and if her mother came to this house before.
August told Lily that Lilys mother and her were best friends, and that Deborah ran away from T. Ray.
Lily started to hate her mother because she wasnt the person she thought she was.
T. Ray found Lily by a call that Lily made to him.
He beat her and told her to come home but she didnt want too.
All The Daughters of Mary told him to go away and Lily will stay with him.
T. Ray left so now Lily lives with August permanently.</p>
