Countdown to Choate

I’m not going to deny what you’re saying, I’ve seen it happen. Do you mind me asking which form you are? I’m just curious because what you’re saying does ring true with my form.

Wait a minute. Are you implying that people are “cliquey”, or obsessed with popularity at Choate?

No. It’s a high school. Not anymore than anywhere else.

@pinksunset-I just read a thread somewhere else about this issue. Quite frankly, as someone who is going to enter the third form this year, your answer is disconcerting. However, the other thread was much more detailed, and therefore more calming.

You can explore the possibilities of transferring to Deerfield.

@circlemidnight I don’t mean to alarm you. You can read my much more detailed responses on this topic here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/1192062-choate-student-taking-questions-2.html#post13060331</a>. I’m disappointed that this topic of discussion which was mainly instigated by one person has snowballed into this rumor that Choate kids are clique and obsessed with popularity. Like I have said before, Choate is not a utopia. I can guarantee that the same things present at Choate are present at any other high school. It is a high school. The same things will be present at Deerfield, Andover anywhere else. These are characteristics of high school not Choate specifically. Ask any educator or anyone that studies child development.

@invent

You should consider the possibility of shutting the hell up about Choate. idk why you are so hostile toward the school; i tried to keep my cool but it doesnt seem to be working. shut the hell up and stay off choate threads if you dislike the school so much. im so tired of your comments. i doubt you’re even going to private school anyways. the master list said you only applied to Lawrenceville, yet you claim to be going to Deerfield, then to Andover. Make up ur damn mind. you are one of the most annoying people ive ever met, ive had it…

We haven’t met, lol.

@pinksunset-Okay, okay. I’m just saying, your first post there was quite surprising there for a second! Maybe it was because it was broad.

@BronxKid-I did a Report Post. Had a bad day?

BTW, congratulations, circlemidnight, on your 333th post! (Okay, I just had to do that.)

a horrible day and just seeing a comments like that blew the cap off off my limits…

Hmm. Take a nap?

lol im better now :)

I’m a few years removed from Choate: about 10 years from when I started 3rd form, actually. Maybe things have changed a lot since then, but I doubt it. I will agree that Choate is not any more cliquey than any high school, and perhaps even less so. The flip side is that you often associate with the more reprehensible characters in the school whether you want to or not. And if you’re a boarder, you can’t just go home at the end of the day.

As I said in my original post, it’s not worth getting upset about. When you’re my age, nobody cares about how many parties you went to or how many girlfriends you had when you were 17. In fact, most (almost all) of those “too cool for school” types I knew at Choate are on the fast track to nowhere. Given the choice, I would trade every friend I had at Choate for a spot in the Cum Laude society. That’s a false dichotomy of course, but you hopefully get my point.

I’m sure you all heard about [this story](<a href=“Facebook group attacked pupils: 2 girls expelled and 4 suspended at US school | Daily Mail Online”>Facebook group attacked pupils: 2 girls expelled and 4 suspended at US school | Daily Mail Online). The downside of being less cliquey is that it is much more difficult to fly under the radar.

23 days!!!

YEAH!!! I am soooo excited!

20 days for me :)

I’m going to CT early to get stuff for my dorm. I’m shipping some stuff, but I want to buy the heavier stuff there. How is everyone decorating their room???

I wouldn’t buy things for your room until you see it!

Oh, no, no, no! I’m not buying a couch or anything…I’m just going to buy a poster or two.
