This is totally unrelated, but does anyone know when revisit days usually are around?

Late March, early April.

@americannigerian: That was our experience - a 6 am email. Good luck!

@ Valdog Thanks a lot

@laughalittle Thanks! And do you know when you must respond to the school whether you are going or not?

April 30th? Maybe? I think that’s the deadline.

April 10, not April 30.

Totally right, dodgersmom. My mistake!

If you get accepted,do you have to go on revisit day? Because spending over $10,000 on plane tickets and other necessities seems just a little to much. My mom said that even if I get accepted into more than one school, we won’t be visiting…I was just wondering if it was necessary or if it ‘helped’ in any way if you choose to go to a school. Like, does it help to know the school? Will you be at a disadvantage at the beginning of the year if you chose to go to a school and you didn’t revisit?
Sorry for the long post! I was just really curious…Thank you and Good Luck Everyone! I love you all! Everyone’s helped me so much in getting through this process! <3

No, of course you don’t have to go.

Revisit days make lots of sense if you have multiple choices and the decision isn’t clear. I’d be surprised if it cost $10,000, though I suppose it might if you are coming from Australia accompanied by parents.

In my son’s case, if he’s fortunate to be accepted to more than one of his top three schools, revisiting will make lots of sense: we are local enough to drive, and it’s a big decision to make for his next four years.

But if revisiting isn’t an option, remember that you will be more than welcome to talk to students and teachers while you make up your mind.

April 10th doesn’t give you much time to decide… I wish April 30th was correct, that’s my birthday, it would be nice to make that milestone on your birthday, haha!

What exactly do you do on revisit day?? Another tour or something?

You’re assigned a student (freshman) who takes you around during the day. You get to experience a typical day and go to classes, lunch, and maybe meet with a sports coach. You have intermittent programs, like a meeting with a board of students from 10-10:30 or something like that. Your parents have a whole separate agenda throughout the day, from meeting with students to lunch with the principal. At the end of the day you meet up with your parents again and discuss!

So, are you guys staying up on M9, or going to sleep ASAP?

That sounds fun!

Haha @manatee1258! It is fun
It’s fun to be able to experience the life of a high schooler!

I"m totally not going to fall asleep on m9. So prep school admissions it is, yeah.

Stay up late the night before to get really tired ha

@laughalittle Yeah I just hope it isn’t awkward!

I’m definitely going to try to sleep on M9 (since decisions aren’t until morning), but I may not be able to!

Since there’s the stupid time difference, I will be sleeping on M9 and most likely staying up the entire M10… xD

On the 9th, during the day I’m going to a government conference which I’m really looking forward to. After school, I have play practice, then my friends and I are throwing a huge surprise party for my friend’s birthday. That’s going to go until late, so I’ll get home at around 11:30, get ready for bed, watch TV, etc, then at 12:01 I’ll check the Blair notification. I decided that I’m not going to set my alarm for 8, when the Hill notifies. Instead, I’m going to sleep in as late as I please, because I get the feeling that M10 is going to be a loooonnnnggggg day! Also, that way when I get up, I can check my laptop and hopefully, by that time, I’ll be able to see The Hill school, MX, and Lawrenceville.

I planned out that whole day, practically! Hahahah, I’ve always been a planner. Also, my aunt is coming down from NYC on Saturday, and I have a date on Sunday! Hopefully this will be a good weekend :)
