Countdown to March 10th!

Wow @ballerina22 you are quite busy!

I applied to Exeter, but I haven’t visited at all because I live in Wisconsin  Is that bad?

CarlyAnn, it’s not bad at all! I teach at a boarding school and I know plenty of kids who first set foot on campus on move-in day in September (mostly international or those from way outside our region). Schools understand that visits are more practical for families who live nearby, or families with the time, money, and ability to change their daily schedules in order to take the trip–and that’s not everyone. Fortunately, schools know that great kids come from all kinds of families. Good luck to you in your admissions quest!

Considering that Wisconsin is an underrepresented, living there, may actually work to your advantage. There have been many debates on this board, regarding whether or not, not visiting the campus will effect your chances of being admitted. Personally, I don’t think it will…

Score! Finally living in the Cheese state pays off!

*underrepresented state

BUMP!!! (ten char)

How do you find the information about which state is over-represented/under-Rep? If schools really want to balance states, people in MA applying to BS in MA will be extremely hard.

Take Groton for example:

States/Countries Represented: 29/12
States with Greatest Representation: MA, NY, NH, CA, NC, CT, TX, FL
Boarders from Outside New England: 80 percent

Only 20% borders from new England…

actually wisconsin is fairly well represented at prep school, well at least for exeter.

haha well i don’t want to jeopardize my identity cause u never know who roams this forum but lets me just say this. the decisions have been made, just have patience, keep calm, and carry on

I’m sure the schools won’t care TOO much about state, after all, you can’t change that easily.

@YupLifeisSweet- How do you know decisions have been made? Do you think some schools are still juggling names around from accepted/ waitlist/declined piles?

Well, we assume. With only three days left, that’s a really short amount of time to continue changing around decisions.

For M10, decision already made. Many schools include hand-written notes in the acceptance package. They need time to write notes, prepare the mailing etc…

Yeah, they might be worrying about the last few, but most are in the can. It’s not as though the whole class is up in the air until the last moment: I’m sure most of the personalization starts a week or more in advance, and the definite no’s are long since disposed of.

Remember, most of the admits are known well before M10; it’s the relative few right now where they are sorting through the remainder to admit or wait list. For all I know, schools may write the notes in advance anyway, but put them aside when they decide who ends up on the wait list.

In my daughter’s case (who ended up wait listed), I was told her case was “in play” until the last moment.

@CarlyAnn I’m from Wisconsin too! :)

BUMP. One more day!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

@BusterDad- Who told you your daughter’s case was “in play” until the last moment? The school or a consultant? Will schools give you that info. if you ask?

Also, just curious- did your daughter get off the wait list?

i’m scared, too guys. i’ll join the freak-out club.
