Hi there!
I’m currently looking at different US colleges and some of them have admission requirements for freshman e.g. 4 units of English, 4 units of maths, 3 units of science etc.
Am I required to have completed the 4 years of English, 4 years of maths, 3 years of science etc. or does this not apply to me as I am an international student and my school works on the GCSE/A level system?
You asked this question, and had it answered, back in early April. The answer hasn’t changed in the meantime.
@collegemom3717 that was to do with a specific school where they were recommendations. I’m talking about requirements here like for Cornell and UC Berkeley.
Then allow me to save you repeat posts over the spring and summer as more colleges come under consideration: broadly speaking, the answer applies across universities. How much it matters will depend somewhat on the college (if the missing classes are germane to the course, such as maths for engineering) but you can take as a given that any university that has international students understands that systems are different. Most of them will give some guidance (both Cornell & UCLA do- Cornell asks you to attach a letter explaining why you don’t have some of the requirements, UCLA specifies the GCSEs that they expect you to have taken) on their websites. Googling admissions + international usually brings it up in a trice.
@collegemom3717 thank you, that’s really helpful advice
