<p>the answer is E. Trust me…i got an 800 CR and 800 W.</p>

<p>Anyway, the reason is, you need to have both verbs be infinitives: They refused TO PATENT (the process they used) or otherwise TO PROFIT</p>

<p>if you take out all the extraneous words, you see it’s very simple: they refused to patent or to profit</p>
