So for my October ACT I gave up in the middle because I screwed up reading…so for my essay I just wrote random rap lyrics…and then I find out I get an 8 out of 12 on my essay…???

lawls, funny stuff

what about today?

you probably woulda dominated if you finished it

haha… what rap lyrics? And how long was it? I bet they just looked at the length and gave you an 8 based on that.
Damn, I’ve written pretty good essays and I’ve always gotten an 8. :(

well to write lyrics is harder than essay, have to have rhythm, rhyme and imagery

or…not

hah…i didn’t make the rap up…i just wrote the lyrics from two of Notorious Big’s songs…Juicy and Ten Crack Commandments…ACT honestly doesnt read our essays lol

I doubt this is true.

I don’t think they really read the essays either. I took the ACT with writing three times. My first two essays were my most well-written essays, but were only about 1.75 pages (I write really small). I got an 8 out of 12 for both essays. For my last essay, I decided to write bigger. The essay itself was probably of lower quality than my previous two and probably the same number of words, but, because I wrote bigger, I reached about 2.5 pages. Despite being a worse essay, I got a 10. Really, all they look at is the length.

LMAO! Those ACT graders are some lazy, silly bastards.

LOL wHAAaaaaaaat… I’m trying this in the future lol

This is true;
1 page essay, I thought it was superb essay with argument. 7/12.
2 page bs, after I heard about this length thing, 10/12

WOW good thing i wrote like 3 pages. LOL.

Thank GOD I filled up every page! Every line!!! There was about 1 inch left at the end of the page!!! Ha! I certainly hope that they don’t read it though, because if they try, they won’t succeed. Messy! :(

when i took the ACT, i had to take it at this really low-income local college that is basically falling apart (i signed up late). so i’d heard that the desks were tiny and all carved up and made it really hard to take the test. so, i get there super early, and i’m the first person in the door. so they check my ID and registration, etc, and tell me to pick a desk. so, the desk i pick is nice, and big, with minimal carvings, and i’m feeling so proud of myself for getting there early because its pretty much the only nice desk in the entire room. but then, the test proctor (who referred to herself in the third person as “mama nell” the entire time) tells me that i have to move. and im like uh, not a chance. and so she gives me some bs excuse about since im the first one there, i have to sit in the first desk in the first row, and everyone has to fill in across the rows from there. and so im like, yeah, okay. and i get up, and start dragging the desk across the room so i can be the first person in the first row (yeah, i have an attitude). and she like FLIPS OUT at me, and im like really, if all you care about is my position, then i can move the desk right? (there is still no one else there…i was that early). so we gripe at each other some more, and finally it comes out that she’s saving the desk for her niece! and so im about to seriously get in this woman’s face over the desk (like i said…attitude), and some other proctors are coming over to see what’s up, when a really good guy friend of mine walks in and calms me down, just talking to me. but i was SO upset, and that ***** of a proctor won, and i had to sit in a nasty old desk, and basically i did bad on the test because i was so mad.

yeah, thats my horror story.

Report her

Isn’t that a conflict of interest for her to proctor her niece’s test?

the whole essay thing…u may have gotten a 10/12, but don’t you think the colleges will look down upon a bunch of rap lyrics? lol (They are able to see your essays, right?)

It is definitely against ACT’s rules for someone to proctor her niece’s test. In fact, I don’t think you can be a test supervisor at any test center if you have a relative testing on that date anywhere in the country. I agree that you should report her to ACT.

Hmm, are you sure about that?

My sister teaches at a different school (same city - different school district) and she’s proctored the ACT exam on the same day I’ve taken the ACT exam before (but I took it at my home school). Nothing has ever happened with it though.

yes colleges do see your essays and your high school if you sent them a score report
