The Three Changes I Would Make In My Community

If I could make three changes in my community, what would they be? This is a question I’ve asked myself before, but not until now have I given myself the drive to honestly discover what those changes would be. In this essay I will cover changes that can be made, as well as the resources to research and implement those changes. I will go over volunteer activity, group and afterschool organizational activity, and lastly how I would help others with seminars and self-help groups. Simple changes in your community could help make a large difference. Volunteer work is easy to do, and can be organized with others who wish to help your community, after-school groups could help the children with more constructive and educating activities, and seminars with focus on self-help could all help improve the community and eventually even spread through the state with good influence.

I would create opportunities with the local volunteer work, and become more involved in it. Searching around the community, it is apparent that much could be done with volunteer work to help benefit it. Local car washes, yard and landscaping work for residential and commercial areas, as well as restoring and painting public areas and buildings could all help the community in one way or another. The volunteer work could help even more so with any donations or income going to charity proceeds or benefiting local funds to improve the city. I could take the time to form a group of several people who share the interests that I do of helping the community and each of us individually could spread our influence to create even more volunteer groups throughout the community. Once there are several active groups, I would create new ideas and methods to help even more so. Ideas such as online feedback and resources, working with other close counties and communities, could help the general idea and benefit spread.

I would inspire more constructive group activities for the community. Let’s face it, when people, mainly children and teens, have idle time on their hands, it isn’t always met with constructive activities. I would get local groups together with similar interests and try to go to the school system, helping to create after-school groups, clubs, and other things to help our kids stay active and constructive even out of school. In another way, I would go to local churches and find out info about the youth groups and Sunday school activities there and help the word get out. I know I had an amazing time when I went camping with my youth group when I was younger. Lastly, I would establish a club, or become part of an already existing one, that I feel could help others and that I share interests with. An art or music club for example could help those of us with the drive for creating things, as well as give people an outlet for their emotions into art and music. The art created could then be product of a local gallery or show and the proceeds given to charity, if the artist wished.

I would help lead and host my own seminars for self-help and overall understanding. A lot of people do things, or get involved in things, because they either don’t have a way out, or they don’t fully understand the repercussions of their actions. I believe that with local seminars, we could create a sense of welcoming and understanding in the community, a lean-on-me kind of thing, to help anyone with problems further understand themselves, and know where they can get help with those problems or issues. Not everyone realizes that there are local psychiatrists and therapy groups, as well as people who will gladly listen and offer a helping hand. I could also write up or help distribute self-help and self-improvement guides, using experience from my own life and past problems, to pass out to people to help them in their daily lives.

It is easy to help your community if you want. There is a lot of information out there, in the newspapers, on the internet, at local libraries, and at the city hall area of your community. The resources are out there and the possibilities are endless, you just need determination. No matter what action you do, one car wash or simply opening a door for someone, can show compassion to others and can then begin to affect the community, even in the smallest of ways. These are the simple changes I would make in my community, hoping they would help make a large difference. The volunteer work is easy to accomplish and will be organized with other helpers in my community, after-school groups would help the children as well as all of the community to better enjoy constructive activities, and seminars with self-help focus could help improve the community and eventually spread throughout the entire state with good influence.

(for some reasons the indents didn’t come over from the word document)

I have read your essay and can say that it’s written based on the given question clearly. Definitely, volunteering and awareness programs can set changes among the community if effectively executed among them, in that sense your points are well selected to write on. Also, you made it clearly how you are going to approach those option before you. Everything is fine in my reading, but I think only professionals can help you with mistakes in this essay, if any.
