Crock Pot Mac and Cheese

Someone posted this recipe on a recent thread - can’t find it. Thought I copied it - but can’t find it. Anyone???

Thanks.

Not sure this is the one, but I have one saved off (haven’t tried yet):

16 oz macaroni noodles, cooked al dente
2 eggs, beaten
12 oz evaporated milk
12 oz milk (skim, 2 %, or whole, your choice)
16 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
8 oz mild cheddar cheese, shredded
Salt/pepper to taste

Cook noodles until they are still slightly firm. Drain and put in Crock Pot.
Whisk eggs, and add to evaporated milk and milk. Add salt and pepper to
taste. Pour over noodles and stir. Add cheeses, saving a little to sprinkle on
top. Cook on low 3-4 hours.

My recipe is very similar and it is delicious! I use low-fat milk and fat free evaporated milk.

Crock Pot Mac & Cheese

16 oz elbow macaroni
4 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 can, 12 oz, evaporated milk (I used fat-free)
1 1/2 c milk (I used 1%)
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 t salt
1/4 t pepper
4 slices American cheese

Cook the pasta and drain. Mix the cooked pasta, 3 c cheddar cheese, evaporated milk, milk, eggs, salt and pepper in a greased slow cooker. Sprinkle with 1 c cheddar cheese and arrange American cheese slices on top. Cook, covered, on low for 3 to 4 hours. Do not remove lid or stir while cooking. Serves 8 to 10 (lol)!!

Thanks!!!

One caution with noodles and crock pots - Do NOT cook longer then four hours. I tried to do mac and cheese once with uncooked noodles and more liquid for 6 hours and it turned into cheese and noodle mush. I have also tried to do soup with uncooked noodles, adding them about half way through the day and they likewise fell apart.

The evaporated milk is a key ingredient for mac and cheese. I prefer extra sharp New York or Vermont cheese but have been known to throw in any kind that looks like it should be used up!

I want a recipe for mac and cheese, crock pot, or otherwise that will taste like Panera’s macaroni and cheese.

Some boggers claim it does not taste like the real thing, but here it is:

Disclaimer: I have not tried making it.

I’m definitely trying this! I love mac and cheese!

Thanks BB for the Panera link. Sure is worth a try. You made my day.
