CSULB FALL 2019 Transfer Thread

@lulu1115 it’s Calculus 1. It’s lower a division class I believe; I need it for completing my degree.

I looked on the websites for CSULB, as well as Cal state apply but all they say is as long as you have the golden four as well as at least 60 transferable units you should be okay. You could always talk to a counselor at your CC and ask them if they know, or talk to a CSULB counselor but they seem harder to get into contact with. @muzzles

@lulu1115 I REALLY hope that’s the case. I’m considering calling CSULB since my CC’s counselors are useless. I’m terrified that my Calculus class is going to ruin everything for me. The drop date is fast-approaching and it’s freaking me out.

Hey guys, I’m transferring to CSULB (Provisionally accepted+Waived my SIR and paid for the entrance exam and SOAR) and I see that they added the feature for the advising and tutoring. I am a Liberal Studies major and you have to choose a concentration area (Basically 4 courses/12 units for one subject you choose) and it says I have to talk to an advisor about it. I can’t use the feature the portal added, because it says that there are some technical issues. So do I message the advisor and talk to them about it?

Has anyone taken the GWAR yet? If so how is it? Also, did you guys decline admission acceptance to other schools, or just leave it, and not respond. The deadline is tomorrow so I think I’m going to decline CSUF. @muzzles @imcc98 i believe we have the tab in our portal but we can’t use it until after SOAR advising. I think

I’m a bio major prospect and I don’t think I will be accepting the decision, so if there’s a waitlist out there a spot will open up.

GWAR question: has anyone else already taken it at a different university? I read that it transfers between csu campuses but how to get the credit was unclear. It’s on my transcript but I still don’t have access to the degree evaluator so not sure if its covered or I should take it again. Might just have to call and find out but thought id ask here first.

Just declined my offer for admission to cell & molecular biology & gave someone on the waitlist a chance! Good luck! :slight_smile:

I am a computer science major. I’m missing the 2nd level of a physics class (electricity and magnetism) that is recommended to transfer with. My district does not offer that class in the summer so looks like I am going to have to take it in another district, but I already called a few colleges and they told me the class I wanted is going to fill up fast. Will I be rescinded because of this? And will they allow me to take another class from another district?

Hello sorry to ask were you accepted with the gpa . I have the same gpa

hey guys, i applied to csulb as an international transfer student from a cc in southern California and checked my application status regularly through the self service, i sent official transcripts and spring schedule before i got the email telling me to in march, i kind of made things harder for me because i sent them to regular admissions not the international department so i emailed them asking if i had to send them again but they told me it’s just gonna delay the process since they have to wait for them to send them over, fast forward a month and my status still says
“waiting on those transcripts” so i decided to send them again, anyway Sunday night i got an email saying my application is complete and under review .
so my question do csulb handle international admissions differently or they’re just waiting until the last day to send me that rejection email, because may 1st was the deadline to commit for people who got admitted and the weird thing they should be able to make a decision with the self reported grades on the application ? .

@lulu1115 I remember you asking about the degree planner a long time ago and I got the answer. I just recently got an email saying that my “transfer credit is official”, pretty much stating that everything, expect Spring 2019, has transferred over successfully.

In the email, they stated that the degree planner will not be accessible unless “you are not a current CSULB student enrolled in courses.” So I guess you can’t use it until you are enrolled in some classes.

Hopefully I’m not late and that helped :smile:.

@muzzles Do you know what the degree planner section of additional requirements is? Are these planned classes CSULB made for us, to take at the university, or are these classes we’re currently taking or missing?

@ggdcal I’m assuming these are classes that we are missing that need to be taken at CSULB. If you go to https://www.csulb.edu/student-records/degree-planner and then click on the “Understanding Degree Planner Reports” video, it explains what the additional requirements section means.

@muzzles Thank you so much!

@ggdcal are you able to access your degree planner then? at this point I don’t think i’ll have access to anything before SOAR. I think I’m going to call admissions next week if my last paperwork, an AP Score, still hasn’t been processed yet. (Friday will make 45 business days since it was mailed to CSULB, though I do have confirmation it was sent) Im trying to be patient since i’m sure things are crazy between admissions and ending out the semester with graduations and all.

Hope everyone is hanging in there as finals approach.

Hey everyone, I got accepted to CSULB as a Marketing major. Unfortunately, I had to drop my calculus class a couple days ago. This was a major related class. I now have no idea what to do? Will they let me retake it in the summer at my community college? If not, will my admission get rescinded? Anyone else been through this or know someone who has? I’m freaking out. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

@muzzles if you dont mind me asking, what happened to the situation with your calculus class? I ended up dropping mine and I need it for my major. Did you ever find out how this would affect our admission to long beach?

@whythefox Yes I have access to the degree planner! That’s strange, I signed up for SOAR and I got access a few weeks later, they sent me an email saying to check my degree planner and my academics. It’s a good idea to call them honestly! Good luck!

I actually have a similar situation as @ONSOOO
I dropped 2 classes from a CC, that aren’t required to my major, because I already fulfilled the area on the pre-req, but I didn’t contact CSULB when it happened. I’m not sure if it’ll effect their decision to accept me or rescind their offer. But I have well over 80 units, but it says they can only transfer 70 credits.

@ONSOOO
I did mild research, and a lot of the people said to contact admissions of CSULB, asking them directly if it’ll effect their offer to you, I’ll most likely call on Monday to ask. It seems to be an issue if you have the minimum transferrable credits, because some aren’t transferrable 100%. Hope that helped a little!
Try to call them on Monday, they open at 9 am. You could even ask about if you’re able to take it in summer, and if it would go towards your application.
