@ONSOOO Cheering you on dude! I really hope you can just take Calc 1 at CSULB, that would be way better.
I got a SOAR workshop date for July 18 and I applied back in April 10th, I think. The earliest date for SOAR was July 9th, but that’s only for College of Engineering. College of Business’s earliest SOAR date is July 11th. Sucks that you got one so late.
@Muzzles @shanwithaplan it kind of sucks because cal state Fullerton doesn’t require the GWAR only Long beach. It is basically two handwritten essays you have 75 mins to complete each one. You are given a random topic and must write a five-paragraph essay on the topics provided. They score you and basically, you have to take more classes because of it. It is dumb. lol. I have my test next Saturday. Anyone else sign up yet? It also states we can’t leave early, so even if we finish we just sit there until the whole room finishes.
Does anyone know what we have to submit to the school once the semester ends? Is it just final transcripts? How do we show proof of any Associates degrees we got? @muzzles Do you happen to know?
@lulu1115 when I took the GWAR at SDSU the time was just about right. I didn’t notice anyone waiting very long. If you finish early you get the chance to proof read it and catch any grammar or spelling issues, or even change your vocabulary to enhance your papers. (but I love writing so any extra time helps me flower it up a bit) The topics we were given were political/opinion based topics but I hear it’s always different.
Hi, I would like to ask what I need to do if I want to see someone one on one on campus regarding transfer. I applied for Fall 2019, but my application was rescinded because they told me I “did not take” a class for major requirement. I actually took the class and I have sent an appeal to CSULB to prove I took the class. In less than two weeks, they denied my appeal saying the exact same reason that I did not take the class. I have talked about it with my college about my situation, but I need to see someone from CSULB whom I can talk about it with.
Major: Studio Art
Transfer GPA: 3.80
AA-T/AS-T: Completed
Pre-reqs: Completed
Golden 4: Finished
Local Area: LA County
@lulu1115 I’m taking that GWAR entrance exam next saturday too on June 15 lol it’s just the time they gave us is so early!! Also I just have a question for everyone, and it’s kind of a stupid one. I’m still provisionally accepted, but will I still be accepted even with a “C”? Because they said that the course work in my major may require higher than a “C” average and I got a “C” for one of the classes for my major.
Also there’s a chance my overall GPA (Which is like a 3.09) might go slightly down to like a 3.07 and my major (Liberal Studies/Education) requires a minimum of 2.6
@imcc98 I believe you should be fine but I guess it could depend on the major. I believe by getting C you are satisfying the terms by most means, I would call to verify with enrollment.
Good luck on the GWAR, one tip is for you to make sure you know how to structure paragraphs properly. I know many people only writing 2-3 pages and passing the GWAR.
Is anybody still waiting to get in from the waitlist into Long Beach?
@Bbgtrixie Im still waiting ! its taking a long time
@
Me too! I thought I was the only one, you’re not alone!
Major: Construction Management
Does anyone know how to sign up for GWAR or how I can make an appoinment?
@shanwithaplan The link to sign up for GWAR is here: https://commerce.cashnet.com/cashneti/selfserve/EditItem.aspx?PC=TESTW&ItemCount=1. The next test date is September 7th, it looks like.
Hello everyone. I received an email that says the following:
"As you know, newly admitted transfer students are required to participate in the Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) program. While attending your SOAR workshop, you will not only be introduced to the campus, but it is your opportunity to register for your Fall 2019 classes at CSU Long Beach.
According to our records, you are currently completing important admission requirements during the Spring 2019 term, and we have not yet received your final transcripts. You can view which documents are required by visiting your MyCSULB and reviewing the information in your Student Center. The deadline for final transcripts, with Spring 2019 grades and degrees posted, is July 15, 2019.
As your admissions is contingent on completion of these courses, we have placed a registration hold against your Fall 2019 registration. However, as we do not want to hinder your registration process for Fall 2019 while we wait for your transcripts to be received, we are asking that you “self-report” your courses and grades for the Spring 2019 term. To do this, you will use our online Conditional Permit to Register form.
Please complete the Conditional Permit to Register no later than July 1st.
Follow the link to the CSULB web site where you will be allowed to indicate your schools, courses, units, and final grades for Spring 2019. Please note that we are requiring that you indicated the date of your SOAR workshop. If you need help filling out the form, detailed step-by-step instructions can be found here. Please make sure that you complete and submit your Permit before your SOAR workshop!
Based on the information you provide, we will lift the registration hold temporarily so that you can participate in your SOAR workshop and secure a full class schedule. Once your official, final transcripts are received, and we have confirmed completion of all admission requirements, the registration hold will be lifted permanently.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Enrollment Services at (562) 985-5471 or email us at es-tradm@csulb.edu. If you have any questions about the SOAR On-Campus Transfer Workshop, including reservations and parking, please call the SOAR office at (562) 985-5515 or email us at soar@csulb.edu.
We wish you every success this academic year and look forward to welcoming you to “The Beach!”"
I just wanted to let everyone who is attending in the Fall that you do have to send in your transcripts and you also have to self-report your grades from the Spring. Good luck!
@muzzles got the same email. Does anyone know how we submit GE certification? I sent my transcripts already but not sure what GE certification is. Also took the GWAR today and it was super easy! So good luck to all of you on it bet you’ll do great.
Hi there!
Has anyone been able to register for classes yet?
@muzzles @lulu1115 I got the same email, one of my transcripts hasn’t fully processed but in the transcript report area it shows my completed classes along with the grades.
In the email it says to do “CONDITIONAL PERMIT TO REGISTER”, has anyone done this yet? Is it required? Or is it just if you want to register for classes ASAP?
Hi nobody can register until SOAR, or after SOAR. My transcripts have finally disappeared off my too do list. But I still did the CONDITIONAL PERMIT TO REGISTER just in case since they emailed us about it. I think it is required in case your final transcripts don’t go through before SOAR. Anyone else take the GWAR yet? @ggdcal
I’m still waiting to get off the waitlist while some friends have already gotten off, anyone else in the same boat?
some programs can register before SOAR as part of an experimental group (an extra process and advisement before SOAR), the School of Art can register if all your holds are lifted. I filled out the conditional permit to register last week and my final transcripts have been sent; but I still have the holds there so not sure how much faster the conditional form will make things. I just can’t wait to get over this paperwork hurdle and start already
