Cuisinart recalls 20 years of food processor blades

Heading into kitchen to check mine now!

Wow, I have a circa 1983 DL7-Super Pro, and I’m on my second blade. Or maybe the third. I was just thinking about getting another one. The one I’ve been using actually did crack through one of the rivets, and I think the first one did too.

Would love to get a free blade! Although I would feel guilty because my machine has seen decades of use, sometimes hard use. (My chocolate business.)

I would just like to mention my food processor dates back to the early 1980s. My mom gave it as a gift to her mother-in-law who regifted it to me and my husband for our 1986 wedding! It’s a Sunbeam Oskar. Still going strong, absolutely pulverizing carrots with the grater (and spreading them all over the kitchen counter), but makes a darn good pesto and kneads pie crust like a champ! Best re-gift EVER!

Wow. I have an old Cuisinart, circa 1986, but I lost the blade and ordered a replacement about 10 years ago. Then I found the old blade. I guess I will check the new one to see if it is recalled. Thanks @yauponredux!

My parents had their old blade (which has multiple cracks at the rivets) plus two replacement blades (purchased due to those cracks).

I just tried to call Cuisinart and got a busy signal. Both my blades say DLC-10 and are riveted although they look different. The older one says “made in Japan”, the newer one doesn’t say.

Mine is a DLC7Pro circa 1984 or so. Blade is perfect.

I have a mini also…but it’s not listed on the recall list either.

Whew.

Mine is definitely on the recall list. I’m going to wait a few days before I try to contact Cuisinart. The website wouldn’t load; it’s undoubtedly too busy.

The website finally loaded for me. Mine, DLC - 10C is on the recall list even though it’s from the late 1980s or early 1990s. There’s no place to ask for 2 replacement blades so I’m going to try to call again tomorrow.

The web page says it will be up until April 1, 2017.

I’m on my 2nd machine. I just checked mine and it is in the list. Turned my metal blade over and it has a hairline crack at one screw and actually missing some metal on another.
Thank you @yauponredux

My machine is from 1987 or so - made in Japan, not China. I’m assuming it’s not involved.

Mine is a DLC-10 Plus from the mid-80s, made in Japan. It’s not on the recall list. The problem is that the blade looks exactly like the picture on the website, with the rivets and beige-colored central part. The good thing is that I don’t use it a lot–I guess I’ll wait till I can get through to Cuisinart on the phone to find out if I should get a replacement.

Yes! It has the rivets, but I’m going off of the made in Japan vs. made in China and figure it’s ok

No!!! My blades say DLC-10 and the machine says DLC-10C and they ARE on the list! Please call to be sure. You’ll need a magnifying glass to read the model number on the bottom of your machine.

My machine was made in the US and the old blade was made in Japan. According to the web site, that blade is being recalled.

My old DLC 7 is from the early 80’s, blade says made in Japan. On the underside there is a crack all the way across one rivet and a crack from center to rivet on another rivet. I would never have thought to look for this. This is the time of year when it gets the most use but I’ll find alternatives.

Thank you yauponredux for posting this!

Mine is on the list, and I was able to log on at 6:00 AM this morning. My blade looks fine, but hey – if they want to send me a new one – presumably sharper – I’ll take it.

My blade says DLC-7 and was made in Japan. Although my machine says DLC-7P (and I think I got it in the mid-80’ss), there are cracks emanating from two of the rivets, and if Cuisinart is willing to replace them, that’s fine by me. I couldn’t get on the site last night, but was able to get on, fill out the form and submit this morning. Now I wonder how long it will take to get here!

I just checked mine…the blade says DLC 7. Does that mean I am on the recall list? It’s a DLC7 Pro that I bought in 1983.

Well, I give the company credit for making the broad recall and for making machines that last so long that so many of us are still using them over 30 years later! In an era of what seems like planned obsolescence for many products, that is pretty remarkable!
