I’m pretty sure they filled their brown-people quota -_-

Also, lots of speculation that due to the HUMONGOUS applicant pool this year, lots of people had VERY VERY similar stats, so UM MIGHT HAVE been reduced to choosing at random. Thoughts?

No way they are selecting at random. I doubt it.

mam1298,
that would not surprise me, because they received a boat load of applications.
it took them months to organize.
every single time that I have spoken to anyone in Admissions, it was chaotic.
for almost 7 weeks they could not find parts of my application.

and

2 people in my school were admitted, that were themselves shocked when they found out.

so…

^^^^^Just curious here. Were they shocked because they had mediocre stats? Also, are they planning on attending Michigan or not sure yet?

Any hope that I had that I’d be a wolverine next year has been dashed. Ah well xD

3.67 gpa, 2020 sat, 30 act applied in december and got deferred for COE… after looking at the COE acceptances i have lost all hope

OOS Deferred EA
3.6 UW GPA, 4.1 WGPA, 2270 SAT, 34 ACT

rjkofnovi,
Honestly, both students expressed surprise on FB due to their mediocre stats!!!
One of them, I have no idea of her stats, but she is not in the top 20% in my school
The other one is in only 2 AP classes and I am quite familiar with his very average grades, as we are friends.

My guess is that tons of EA were just deferred because of the volume, and they never got around to it with the RD rush.

deferred CoE in december
