Has anyone been accepted off the waitlist yet???
If Case accept students from waitlist, Will they reduce financial aid which they provided earlier?
@tempact no, they don’t. If you read #2 in the FAQ above, they will tell you what you would be offered.
It appears to me that Case’s use of WL is a little different than other colleges…to me it seems like Case wants an exact number of freshman in the class. Once they are getting a good idea of how many slots they still have to fill, they offer admission to people on the WL (with merit). it isn’t a case of “well if you want to come, you can, but you have to pay full price”

I think Case Western is very careful about the freshman class size due to limits on freshman housing, Case wants all the freshman and a few sophomores on North Residential campus. South Residential campus includes some greek houses and most sophomores. Upper classmen at Case now live on 115th Street in suites or off campus near 115th street. Or in a Greek house which is either in south residential campus or north area.
At Purdue, freshman who sign up for housing very late, might be housed off campus.
At U of Michigan,a freshman could end up with a graduate student roommate, even. that never happens at Case Western, as far as I know.
Thats the beauty of CWRU, you get a nice room in a good place to live and you can choose a theme for your housing, that binds the freshman together, like service projects or the arts. This housing system, really helps freshman year go smoothly.
Thank you @bopper for the information.
Got waitlist status check #4 today, and the first line was “We in the Office of Undergraduate Admission at CWRU…” instead of “Thank you for your continued interest…” which made my heart drop. I was hoping for a different email but it’s just more waiting.
Yea, really disappointing. Nothing I can do
Has anyone heard back yet?
Nope, @Jenbio101 , but I am rooting for you!!
Last year, Case started making offers to WL students this week!
“While in some years we have known prior to May 1 that we will make offers of admission from the wait list, it does not appear that we will know until after May 1 this year. We will be in touch by the end of the first week of May with an update.”
New email from CWRU
I wonder if that is because more students are enrolling this year.
Waitlist message #5 continues to be the same. Thank you for letting us know. … we remain optimistic …
May 1 is the deadline. They must have folks who haven’t comitted either way and need to find out May 1
an extra week seems like ages
May 1st is the deadline for students to commit; practically all the major schools would not touch their WL till they get all the commits in. CW was a bit unusual in past couple of years that it was able to dig into list to make offers before May 1st.
I guess with acceptance rates plummeting everywhere, including state flagships, some students might have found themselves in a difficult position where the former “target” schools became “reach”.. and the “reach” became “impossible”. I would not be surprised the yield for the “close to tippy top, but not the top 20” schools has increased this cycle as fewer students were able to get into group of schools, and even fewer got into the tippy-top 20s, thus, whoever got in the non-top 20s is more likely to hit the “accept the offer” button due to more limited options being available. This is a lesson for the Class of 2023. It is getting very competitive and unpredictable out there.
Best of luck to everyone waiting for the good news from CWRU.
Well May 1 eve is upon us. Is it possible that Case had a yield “spike” this year and too many students accepted?
Hopefully not…
Anyone accepted off the waitlist yet?
If I am remembering correctly, the last WL email said they’d be in touch at the end of the week, right?
