Maybe it’s just me, as I am old enough to be my kids’ grandparent, but I can’t help but wonder if all this social networking is going to backfire for some of the kids on this site and beyond. Presumably, these are the college-bound kids and perhaps more. So much seems to be shared in cyberspace – opinions, bad grammar, swearing, sexual exploits – even amongst some of what might be thought of as the “cleaner cut” kids. If any of them run for office in 20-30 years will their cyberspace activity haunt them (as it might now) or will society just be inured to all of this by then?

Most importantly, are adcoms scoping out students web identities and can it hurt them?
