Bul****, this is a really unexpected circumstance:
After signing all the transcripts, rec letters, fee waiver, my high school counselor (vice-principal) started to look at my Williams Early Decision Agreement Form suspiciously and asked what this is
I explained to him and received the “no” answer from him, as he himself feared that if I refused to enroll in Williams if admitted, the fame of the school would be damaged. He also said that’s kinda personal thing which needs parents’ signatures, not high school counselor. The reason for that is last year a student rejected Conncoll to enroll in Wesleyan Freeman depsite chosen by the former after a long app process and interview. Thus Conncoll did have a bad impression on us.
What do I gotta do now
?

get your parents involved. if your explanation doesn’t work, it’s time to enlist their help/

I’ve tried, it’s no use :(

Should I take my dad’s signature instead, as he’s also a Math Teacher at our school ?

Well, your vice principal/counselor did say it involved your parents’ signature, didn’t it, instead of his? So I think you definitely should get your dad’s and your mother’s.

And maybe your father could bring it up in any faculty meeting. :)

Oooh, the Wesleyan Freeman Asian Scholars Program! I’m thinkin’ of applying for that, myself.

It’s really hard to formulate a solution in your case as things depend on personal relationship. However, what I think you could do is explain the difference between Conncoll and Williams to your highschool counselour. That is, that Williams is one of the top colleges in the US and stepping out of an Early Decision agreement if you were admitted (and you yourself know how hard that is) would basically blacklist you from getting accepted into any institution of Williams’s caliber. So, it is in your self interest (and it really is) not to enter into an ED agreement without being commited to honoring it.

bogororo, I think you may be misreading her post. I think SHE’S ready for a committment to Williams but her counselor doesn’t believe or trust her/other students about ED applications after last year’s student who pulled out.

IzzyJ, I did not misread her post, that was exactly my point - to try to make her counselour understand that it withdrawing from an ED contract would be even more harmful for her than for the school and that therefore it would make no sense for her to do it. This might be wishful thinking if said person “doesn’t want” to understand her situation.

Sign the name yourself if he doesn’t agree.

Thank you all for your replies
I did send an email to Williams admission officer in charge of international students, and he said that I can get my parents’ signatures instead, along with a brief explanation.
This topic can be closed now :)

Congrats on a successful resolution!

Congrats and good luck with Williams!

Thank you so much for supporting me ![]()
Besides, do you know whether 2050 SAT (international student) is enough for Williams? :(

Look, after a certain level, the SAT does not matter anymore - I know this from comparing different scores of people who got accepted. Now, what the exact value of that level is, I have no idea whatsoever. But I think 2050 should be a pretty decent score for them to consider your file. What will matter more is the rest of your file.

Yeah
Top schools are strange
Last year a Vnmese student got accepted with only 1290 SAT, but maybe the rest of his file saved him
Besides, are you currently studying at Amherst
?

sat doesnt matter only bcoz the majority already have high scores in them.–
As for a 2050, i expect it to be decent enough though no advanage here
