Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I can’t look at Melissa Gilbert without cringing. WHY WHY WHY do celebrities think it is a good idea to plump up their lips?! I haven’t seen one that looks good…all too often they look like cartoon characters. I just don’t understand it.

Question:

If there was a contest to judge the best pro dancer who would win?

Best male pro?

Best female?

If you were to look at their U.S. and International performance results, it would probably be Tony Davilani and Karina Smirnoff. I didn’t Google this so I’m only speculating. I believe Tony has won top competitions for Cha-Cha and Karina has won competitions for Latin as well. I don’t think Tony can TEACH someone to dance the way Derek Hough can, so Derek is by far my favorite male dancer on DWTS. And if you look at teaching ability rather than dancing ability for the ladies, than I would probably give the nod to Cheryl Burke, even though I personally don’t like her dance ability in anything other than the Tango or possibly the Paso Doble. My favorite female dancer is probably Kym Johnson. I think Mark Ballas may have the most athletic ability of any dancer (Derek being his closest rival) but he doesn’t partner very well, always “outshining” his partner week to week, year after year.

How can Roshon be in jeopardy? He has been very strong. Odd.

Anyone else think the singers are not as good this season as in the past?

Yes! I was thinking the same thing about the singers.

In terms of dancing, I like Karina and Derek.

Really? A couple of times tonight I remember thinking the singers sounded really good! Oh well, what do I know.

I recognize one of the singers as a long time back up singer for Michael Jackson.

Tonight they were partners for the “pro” dance, and there were indeed quite spectacular.

Interesting trivia: Derek moved to London (as a teen, I think) to live with the Ballas family as Mark’s parents were master teachers. And now the Ballas brothers and Derek are all on this show. Kind of cool.

Roshon’s fan base doesn’t watch DWTS, they watch the Disney channel.
They need to start asking their parents to vote for him.

You have to remember that the producers can put anyone they want in the bottom 3 so long as one of the choices is the actual lowest vote getter (unlike American Idol where the bottom 3 are the 3 contestants who got the lowest vote total). They did say that Gavin and Martina had the lowest combined scores. No mention of Roshon’s total score.

Now that Martina is out, I can start to parcel out my votes. If Roshon can keep dancing well, I’ll have to throw him some of my votes.

My favorite dancer is Derek because he choreographs such brilliant routines for his partners. Tony’s choreography often lacks pizzaz and flare…

He’s a great dancer though…

I’d like to see how well Tristan can do with a younger star. So far, he’s had Nancy Grace and Gladys Knight. Who’s next? Betty White?

I think many times a dancer will go farther if they have a good choreographer. By far Derek has the most creative routines. Mark just turns me off with his mugging to the camera and seeming to want to outshine his partner, but he does push the envelope a lot. He’s just so darn unlikeable.

I think Karina or Kym are the best female choreographers.

I love Tristan, but like a pp said - he’s gotten older partners.

The pairings are always annoying. Derek never gets anything but young beautiful talented dancers. He’ll never get a Bristol, Florence, etc Just once I’d like to see him paired with a clunker to see how he does.

I’m so glad that there are no professional dancers this year a la mya and nicole.

I think Martina was the right choice to leave.

Roshon and Katherine the popera singer both have awfully good moves…they seem almost professional.

Hard to know who will go home tomorrow…the talent is so even this year! I always pick out my top 4 and I then don’t care in which order the others leave. So far, I pick Roshon and Katherine to go the distance. Maybe Donald Driver, the football player…

I’d like to see William Levy stay to do a few more Latin dances. His samba tonight was amazing!! And his story about leaving Cuba was touching…heck, there were a lot of touching stories, some real 4-hanky ones…

[The Clicker - Jaleel White reportedly gets into vicious fight with ‘Dancing With the Stars’ pros](http://theclicker.today.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/02/10987950-jaleel-white-reportedly-gets-into-vicious-fight-with-dancing-with-the-stars-pros)

This is pretty bizarre. I wonder if it has anything to do with Jaleel’s odd tearing up last night when he was being interviewed by Brooke. I know that everyone had a sad story and got a little weepy at times, but Jaleel was supposedly emotional over playing Stefan? Huh?

Call me a cynic, but even last night my dh and I were saying his tears didn’t seem sincere and were over the top. I wonder if the crying wasn’t premeditated because he knew the story would get out and he’d try to blame his bad behavior on the “highly emotional” week.

Poor, Kym. She always seemed quite nice.

Wow, I didn’t know that story about Jaleel when I watched last night. Actually, I thought he was expressionless during his dance and really not that good, whereas I thought he was good in previous episodes. From that news story, I think it will be hard for him to do well with Kim, because partner dancing requires a collaborative relationship.

I think the show is very good and everyone has done quite well. Last night, I’d say the ones that were the least impressive to me were Jaleel, Gavin, and Gladys. However, I love Gladys and I can’t imagine her leaving this soon and she has done very nicely in previous dances, in my view.

Melissa Gilbert improved this week. Even though they wear dance outfits with sex appeal, etc., I thought her extremely short and skimpy outfit was too much for a woman her age.

Roshon is a natural dancer! Katherine too.

William Levy’s dance last night was great.

I enjoy watching Sherry.

I am not sure I have her name correct, maybe Elizabeth? The pretty youngish woman with long brown hair? She was excellent last night.

I am amazed that a football player like Donald could dance as well and with emotion as he did last night. Very nice.

Some teary back stories last night!

Lots of good dances last night, I thought, not just the comments above.

The singing was uneven last night and when it was bad, it was very bad.

When the Urkel tantrum gets some publicity, it will expose him as a spoiled fading star.
Kym is a beloved pro on DWTS and Jaleel is acting like Kate Gosling.

Actually, Louis Van Amstel is the most decorated of the professional dancers, although he’s not on this season.

My favorite pro to watch dance is Maks or Tony.
My favorite male pro as a partner used to be Jonathan, although he hasn’t been on in a while, but Tristan is very good, too. He always respects his partners, teaches and choreographs to their strengths, and dances to make them shine, not himself (like Mark and to a lesser extent Derek).
My favorite female pro is probably Kim, although I also like Anna Trebunskaya. Cheryl is definitely the best teacher/choreographer of the women.

Oh, Jack just got kicked off tonight.

I would have picked Gavin to go but overall, I thought the show went well. The pro dances are really great to watch too.

Hopefully Melissa behaved herself. She obviously wants to practice some of her moves on Maks, and I’m not referring to the ones she’s learned on the dance floor…

Oh, I hated to see Sherri go tonight. Thought for sure that Gladys’s number was up. If not Gladys, then maybe Gavin (although he actually danced well on Monday). I was afraid that either Donald, Roshon or William Levy would be going home…Donald’s paso was FABULOUS, Roshon is a delight to watch and I need to see another Latin dance from William.

He did a great job recovering from Cheryl’s shoe malfunction…

Scary to see Melissa’s head bang into Maks’s knee! I hope she’s OK.

The Jaleel tantrum has been kept pretty quiet…I never really understood his tears about how his Stefan Urkelle was his “Mickey Mouse.” What does Mickey Mouse have to do with anything? Can someone explain?

Maybe it’s time for Jaleel to go home…
