Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

Good point about Glee…

Well, that was a satisfying end to the DWTS season. Really, I am happy with whichever of the three finalists won…loved them all for different reasons.

But my theory of who wins the Mirror Ball Trophy has always been: “Whoever wins the freestyle wins it all.” I agree with Len that William’s freestyle was samba with lifts–Cheryl really didn’t go out on a limb there. Katherine’s jive/freestyle was great, but it didn’t captivate me like the one that Mark choreographed for Shawn Johnson years ago or the one that Derek did for Brooke Burke. Both of those won championships.

But Donald and Peta really took a chance…and it worked! He swung for the fences and connected. Congratulations to him!

Is it just me, but why score the dances on the last night at all?! It seems that the judges always give the contestants 30s…

I agree that the judges’ scores on the final night is silly. Agree, the star of the night was Donald with that incredibly difficult freestyle routine. I thought Katherine had the best “24 hour” routine, with Donald trailing both of the others in this segment of the show. He’s still the best of the bunch of footballers ever to be on the show imo.

I like Donald, his legs and footwork are great, but his back and neck are very stiff and, therefore, his head positions aren’t good. Peta is incredible.

Donald definitely won the freestyle. I liked Katherine and William Levy too. I found their first, second, third positions just right.

I’m not sure Cheryl did William any favors with her choreography. To an uneducated eye (mine) his dances started looking all alike. I believe Len said that Levy took off his shirt and shook his … and he did that exceedingly well. By the end though I expected to see something more or different. Cheryl banked on his sex appeal carrying the day … maybe underestimating him in the process (or maybe not).

Katherine just seemed stressed after a while. (Maybe I’m just projecting how I feel when watching Mark Ballas.)

Donald reminded me of the Energizer bunny. He kept going and going and then peaked just when he needed to do so.

In my opinion, congrats to them all. What a fun DWTS season! I enjoyed watching enough to actually vote for the first time.

I thought the contestants who were in the final weeks were all very good. It was hard to predict the winner.

I would have had Maria in the finals instead of William. William is very good, though not as versatile as the others or as adept at technique, though he excels at the Latin style dances and near the end, he did too many of those and they seemed similar. I thought Maria was a better dancer and I would have liked to see her in the finals. Just very close.

I thought that Katherine might take it as she was consistently high throughout the season and quite versatile. She didn’t even seem that much like an amateur dancer. However, Donald was excellent, not to mention likable. In the last couple of weeks and particularly this week, he really shined and so I could see him winning and was happy with the results though would have been fine with Katherine winning as well.

The shows were all quite good and enjoyable. I have never voted. This is only the second season I have watched and is the only TV show I have watched!

I thought Williams’s foxtrot was his best dance so he can go past Latin dances. I agree that his free style was not new. It was true to who he was, but I do think it was a miscalculation on Cheryl’s part.

But oh well. He got plenty of exposure.

I’m looking forward to “So You Think You Can Dance”…

She played it wrong for Gilles also with the freestyle years ago. But she is great in getting her guys pretty far in the contest.

Would have LOVED to have seen what Derek could have done with Maria in the freestyle.

Happy Donald won, it was so sweet how his family came out. Poor little baby, overwhelmed by the whole thing-- but how adorable was she?!

Donald’s paso was MEMORABLE! Loved William’s sambas. Maria’s vampire routine–fabulous. Katherine’s lyrical lines–gorgeous. I thought it was a great, great season.

Not so much DWTS but still … I ran across this clip on Google News today and thought I’d post it.

[Katherine Jenkins - God Save The Queen + Interview (Epsom Derby - 02/06/12) - HD - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

Wonderful! But how did that dress stay up?!!

I wonder what the queen was thinking during KJ’s rendition of God Save The Queen? Maybe something like “Gosh, I wish my boobies looked that good!”:)

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee AND the Olympics in the same summer…great time to be British!

So, I just saw the cast lineup for the “All Star” season. The men are generally great, but the selection of women seems abysmal to me, with the exception of Kirstie Alley. Well, I guess Shawn Johnson is okay, although I REALLY REALLY think that Cheryl Burke was urged to throw the freestyle so that she would win. I look forward to seeing Gilles take home the trophy this time. :D

Oh, man - Bristol Palin again? What were they thinking? At least they didn’t bring back Kate Gosselin.

I hope Carson Kressley is chosen as the 13th person - he was so fun to watch. Disagree about Bristol Palin - I thought she improved alot week-to-week and I think with a little confidence she should do pretty well.

I think it’s going to be a great season! There are a lot of the earlier winners that were on the show before I started watching. It’ll be fun to actually watch them dance “live.” Some never quite lived up to their potential in a past season–and I hope that this time, they can bring it on (Pamela Anderson). Some really improved so much that you wonder if they can do even better (Bristol Palin and Kirstie Alley). Some were just so fun to watch that I’d like to watch them again (Shawn Johnson, Helio, Gilles Marini and Melissa Rycroft).

I’m voting for Sabrina as the 13th competitor. Why they didn’t include her in the top 12, I don’t know… She left the show way too early!

I have to include Melissa Rycroft among the okay. If they really wanted to make it competitive, they should have brought back Mel B. I didn’t see Carson compete, but I did see Sabrina. Her early elimination was bizarre, I must say. Any true all star group would include Nicole Scherzinger, amongst others. But presumably some were not available.

The big problem is who the partners will be, since several pros have won multiple times, and can only dance with so many people at once!
