Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

I am enjoying it much more this season, too! In fact, last season, I think I watched something else on Monday nights and then watch DWTS On Demand…or not. I love Meryl and Maks and Dannica and Val, but everybody is pretty closely matched. I’m not fond of NeNe and hope she is the next to go.

The thing about NeNe which I do admire is that she is not a professional dancer, or athlete. She is someone who is really learning to move as she goes. So in that respect it is interesting to watch her improve, but as far as dancers go, she is not nearly as polished as some of the others. I am sort of torn between enjoying the professional quality of the dancing, and wondering if it is more interesting to watch true amateurs develop. But if I do enjoy watching an amazing dance like Meryl’s tango last night.

Am I getting old? Did anyone else think James and Peta’s costumes/undressing went too far for prime time? Amy Purdy was amazing … hope she is OK. Eliminations are going to be hard from here; they are all good.

csf, I totally agree about James and Peta. What the heck? The show is on at 7 pm!

I don’t understand how Amy Purdy is doing what she is doing. She is absolutely amazing. Of course, Derek has to get some credit, because I’m sure he is choreographing to what she can do. Does anyone have a close friend or relative with prosthetic legs? I would love to know if they also think she is amazing, or if those of us with both original legs underestimate what folks with prosthetic legs can do these days.

Two weeks ago, during Peta’s contemporary routine there was NOTHING left to your imagination. Her private area wasn’t so private, if you know what I mean!

Good show last night. I think they got the elimination right in terms of absolute dancing, but it was fun to watch NeNe’s progress.

I was disappointed in Charlie’s dance last night, but I don’t think the swarthy Latin style is in his wheel house. I think he does better with more traditional dance, or contemporary style. How He and Meryl are doing their ice dancing plus this show at the same time is amazing to me.

It was too bad that they had to go to the dress rehearsal tape for the second group dance. I think it was the better of the two and would have liked to see it live.

If I had to pick, I would let Candice go next. I don’t think she is really growing or as exciting to watch as some of the other dancers.

I’m really like this season as well. I’m really liking Danica and seeing her get more comfortable in her body. I think the relationships are really genuine between the pros and contestants this year. And I just want to tell Peta to dial it back a little with James, she looks like she’s so smitten with him and he is definitely playing it cool.

As much as I like Candace I agree she should be the next to go.

As much as I am a Charlie fan, he should not have been shirtless. No comparison with the other shirtless dudes.

Interesting judge’s comment about him being too fluid in his movements and how he needs to be sharper/have sharper cut offs to the movements. I can totally understand where an ice dancer would be the opposite. (But of course, no such comment with Meryl.)

Candace is good, but I guess she should be next to go. After that, I don’t know. The rest are all so good. I have a soft spot for Danica and James. And Max. ;)

I too thought James and Peta’s costumes were too much (or too little?), especially Peta’s. They both have incredible physiques, but this is supposed to be dancing, not striptease. Everyone who is still there is good, but Candace should be the next to go. I love Danica, but I think this rib injury will limit her ability to dance to her ability. After watching closely last night, I really think the best remaining dancer is James. But Meryl. Danica (when health) and Amy could all be legitimate winners, and Charlie is close too.

I agree that the raunch factor was high last night. I was put off by all the men going shirtless for every dance. When NeNe’s partner, Tony, took his shirt off to tango I felt like it was a " jump the shark" moment. Don’t get me wrong- I think those guys look great but leave a little something to the imagination.

My mom and I decided over the phone last night that they should really just all dance naked for a while. The audience would be so grossed out that they would demand that the dancers be covered up.

Well, will the winner be Amy or Meryl? Meryl is sheer perfection. Amy amazes me.

Totally agree with both. Most other season’s Amy would be a hands down winner but Meryl and Macs are stunning. I hate that those two are up against each other they are both incredible standouts. I wish that all amputees who could use them could have access to the prosthetics that Amy has. It would be great if her accomplishment could be translated into a improved accessibility for these. You know they have to be insanely expensive. I’d love to see a story about her prosthetics and her learning to use them but then I’m a PT and Amy’s performance goes beyond what would be imagined as possible. Love them both!

I really hope Meryl and Maks win. I also think Amy is phenomenal, but the chemistry between Meryl and Maks adds something to their performances that I don’t see with Amy and Derek. And what about Maks’s personality shift? I can’t recall ever seeing him smile so much.

^^^^^I have to agree with you there. I appreciate each for different things but for pure dance magic it is Meryl and Maks for sure.

I belong to another forum and the ladies there are saying about the same things as here. Yes, I am so amazed at Amy and I agree she would be the winner in another season. I think even the judges are pulling for Maks.

From the obvious mutual touching of one another on camera, it appears that there may be a lot more going on off camera between Meryl and Max!

I just hope the “I’m dancing for God” lady doesn’t win. She is getting on my nerves.

Maks actually looks like a different guy with his new demeanor
