Dancing With the Stars....here we go again

Sounds like she is ok

Wow. That video of kym when she sustained that injury was horrifying. So glad she is ok.

I can’t stand Chelsea.

I’m not sure I like the whole winner takes it all idea. Definitely seems like stacking the deck in favor of whoever the judges want to go through to the final.

I think both Chelsea and Hines deserve to go through to the final. Not sure this is the way one of them should get through.

Have to say I was not a Kirstie Allie fan before the show. I really have grown to like her though. Her dancing has really improved. Hoping for a Chelsea, Kirstie, and Hines final.

With that new “Winner takes all” deal, Chelsea and Mark are soaring ahead. I suppose that’s what the show needed because everyonew kept getting 10s. I was glad Chelsea and Mark got it, especially compared to the others. They took more chances and showed they were better at it than the others. Still, I’m not a big fan of Chelsea & Mark, or most of the others either.

Costumes seem like such a big deal. Guys are so often bare-chested and the girls: all exposed. (Has Maks ever not?) and what’s with Mark’s white socks? He’s had his shoes a dominant feature several times.

swim: I agree. I’ve enjoyed watching Kirstie over these weeks. Sometimes she’s a bit over the top, but it’s really nice that she’s been losing weight.

I think those are spats. I don’t know why he sees the need to wear them so often. They look stupid.

I thought Hines and Kym were really overscored last night. They danced well but not amazingly well. Seemed like sympathy voting to me. I was really touched by Hines’ tears, though.

I thought their first dance deserved the high scores. The 2nd deserved high, but maybe not 3 10s.

I like Chelsea, but I find her facial expressions during some of the dances a bit off putting. Mark is also off putting.

I think Hines and Kym may win it all. Chelsea is probably the better dancer, but I think Mark’s attitude may have lost it for her.

It is fun to watch Max and Kirstie. I don’t thin they should win, but would not be altogether surprised if they did just because they are so appealing. He seems to be having fun this year - I seem to remember him being much less appealing (personality wise) in the past.

My theory on DWTS winner–the person who does the best Freestyle usually wins the whole enchilada. Maks choreographs terrible freestyles–I’ve seen the one he did for Mel B and for Erin Andrews. Mark, on the other hand, has done wonderful freestyles for Shawn Johnson and Kristi Yamaguchi.

Mark and Derek both choreograph great freestyles, so if they get to the final Mark and Chelsea are shoo-ins. The difference between them, to me, is that it is always a joy to watch Derek and his partner dance. Even when Derek is paired with an obvious ringer, like Nicole, their dancing is so great that I just don’t mind. Mark is a great dancer but he comes off as a brat. (And so, to me, does Chelsea.)

My personal theory on the Shawn Johnson win was that Cheryl was “encouraged” to throw the freestyle. There is no way in hell she could have made so little use of Giles Marini, who SHOULD have won. Cheryl can choreograph great freestyles, as we have seen.

The winner takes all cha-cha was a means of making certain that the standard-bearer for the desired demographic would DEFINITELY be in the final. No more Sabrinas.

Hmmm, Consolation–I remember that Giles freestyle was definitely sub par. I can’t believe that Cheryl would throw a freestyle, though. She is SOOO competitive. I remember reading that she had to be talked into the Cowboy freestyle by her partner. Turned out to be a good decision–look forward to seeing it again tonight!

She basically had him just stand there and look hot while she danced around him. They did Flashdance. I remember even Carrie Ann saying that she gave her very able partner nothing to do.

I find it hard to believe that Cheryl would throw it. Doesn’t she get a bump in pay depending on outcome?

Exactly as I remembered it! Helloooo…Flashdance is about… the GIRL!

I have met Gilles, and he is every bit as sweet as he appeared on the show. I am always dismayed that DWTS hasn’t used him more. I never liked Drew and even seeing that dance tonight, it was good entertainment, but I don’t really think it was a dance. I have never had an opportunity to talk to Gilles about DWTS, but I can’t believe Cheryl would throw it. I think she probably listened to what HE wanted to do and since that song is about the woman, they focused on her which was a big mistake when she had such a great partner. My own dance teacher said that his partnering in that dance was excellent. They should have stayed away from the movie storyline and just interpreted the music, like the dancers did tonight. The group dance to the 3 songs from that season was terrific. It’s very powerful music.

Although things will depend a bit on the way they dance, if everyone dances well, I’m predicting Hines to win, Kirstie second and Chelsea third. This has everything to do with fan base and not a lot to do with dancing, unless one couple completely flubs their freestyle.

I think kirstie will end up third. Remember, the viewers vote directly after the freestyle is fresh in their minds, which is bad for kirstie b/c

  • Kirstie wont be able to pull off the kind of exciting freestyle which hines/chelsea will have
-Maks has never choreographed a decent freestyle.

Chelsie WILL have the best freestyle dance next week. She also handled the “Mark Meltdown” from last week about as well as anyone could have. BUT, I’m not sure she can beat Hines. Kym’s accident could have been a horrible tragedy and it may, ironically, just be the difference maker as far as the voters are concerned.

Stevie Nicks sure has lost her voice. Her performances were painful to listen to.

I was thankful for the mute button. Painful is right.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks it’s time for Brooke to go as co-host. I think she’s kind of a twit.

I think Brooke needs more experience. Very few are as good as Tom!

This is my first season of AI and I am struck by how awful Ryan Seacrest is compared to Tom.
