Knowing Cher, she probably has a new album she’s working on, a Las Vegas show to do and a world tour that starts in early 2012 to prep for–all at the same time! That woman is a workhorse…

I agree that Maks went over he line tonight…HE made the show? Len should get out of judging? The guy is an embarrassment. Last year he went after Carrie Ann. Will he stay one more year so that he can unleash his ire on Bruno?

Bruno really has to lighten up on the Chaz body shape comments–he’s compared Chaz to a penguin, the cute furry people in Star Wars…what next? Smurfs? We get it–he’s a rotund, bad dancer.

That said, Chaz and Hope really belonged at the bottom of the leader board. I am tired of the Hope drama and would not mind if she left the show. I don’t think she is going to make the breakthrough she needs and having Max as a partner isn’t helping. Having said that, we should have put Chaz out of his misery long ago. Are we hoping that Cher will have time in her schedule to visit DWTS once more if he stays one more week?

Nancy Grace did a surprisingly good job, I thought…maybe there is hope for those walls to come tumbling down.

In the light of day, I’m feeling more sympathetic toward Maks. This week was a bad week to blow, because Hope didn’t dance well, but I can see his irritation based on earlier weeks when people like Chaz and Karson were given comparable scores to Hope’s and they were nowhere near as good as she was. They seemed to be artificially inflating their scores. I mean, look, Karson was voted off last week and yet they’re still keeping him around. The judges seem to inflate the scores of those they want to keep around.

The producers are involved in the decisions for all the reality shows. That is why the contestants or cast members that provide the most drama or entertainment stay around. It happens on the cooking, hair cutting, dress designing shows too.

Last spring I participated in a “mom’s dance.” I discovered that I have *absolutely zero *ability to remember choreography. We practiced for hours and hours and I had a very difficult time remembering a few 8 counts. After that experience, I give all the celebs a lot of credit.

OK, never thought I’d say this about DWTS, but that was intense.

Chaz is correct to call Bruno on all the comments about his appearance. Yeah, we get it. He’s fat. Enough already. And the judges needed to hear what Maks said, too – Chaz and Karson were getting a pass while Hope was actually dancing. His words came across as offensve and harsh, but enough with Carrie Ann’s crying every week over Chaz. Is this a dancing contest or not? I really thought the votes would go against Hope after his outburst, but I’m glad she lives to dance another week. But she’s got to step it up or she’s next.

Yeah, that was a really awkward episode. I agree with youdontsay’s comments about Bruno. He should be ashamed of himself but all he did was roll his eyes after the segment played where Chaz expressed his hurt feelings.

Loved when Tom said “Damn, and I was going to ask him for a raise!”

Also loved the Halloween dance with the kids - they were really good!

I’m glad Nancy Grace made it through again. She has really grown on me.

On the Biggest Loser, too. I’ve read that the producers of many of these shows actually encourage or even write in many of the controversies.

I’m a little surprised at Hope. Usually athletes of that caliber are pretty good dancers since they possess coordination, timing, endurance, and often, a particular grace. I expected her to be one of the best in the competition.

She’s certainly beautiful, though. Incredible eyes and great cheekbones.

The female athletes who have been successful have performance as part of their sport – ice skating, gymnastics. A goalie is pure power and strength.

She obviously has some skills, but Maks doesn’t seem to know how to play to them. Her best dance was the one where she had the crop top on, with more action and less of the expressive arm-swaying and slow hip-moving she’s not good at. He needs to adapt his dance style to fit her, the way Karina has with JR. She’s toned down the sleazy moves because his image plays to middle America. She’s playing it just right.

I watch the show just for Maks. shrug His comments were rough but I think the message was true and justified-- he just should have said it in English and not Maks-speak, but I don’t think he has it in him to not be himself… Not saying I approve, but I accept, I guess. He is who he is.

Emaheevul07, I agree wholeheartedly. I really thing the judges go overboard a lot of the time. He was absolutely right about the scoring of people by the judges who are always all over the board. Someone needed to speak up. I hope they warn the celebs that the judges may call them fat, make fun of them, tell them they have zero charisma, are drab, boring, whatever. It’s one thing to say there was no technique or no content or bad dance position, or whatever. It’s quite another to liken Chaz to an penguin or an Ewok. How often do the women’s long dresses camouflage a lack of good footwork or the weak male dancers just stand around while the female pro dances around them?

Nancy’s fox trot was awful. There should have had 7s at best. Rob’s cha cha was halfway decent and he should have gotten 8s compared to the scores that were given others. But it was Chaz’ time to go. I’d also like to see Hope have a really good dance and then be put out of her misery next week.

All the other female athletes on there have been in sports where form (not just being in great physical shape) was important–Shawn Johnson & Kristi Yamaguchi who were in sports where dance training was par for the course–both won. The swimmer and the tennis player (can’t remember which ones now) were similar although neither had much performance ability or name recognition and were quickly voted off.

Chaz and Lacy are on Jimmy Kimmel and they mentioned they are not happy with Chaz being called “every round animal in the world.” He said that he thinks that heavy women are treated more kindly than heavy men. He said that being compared to animals and round objects is not what he came on the show for. He says it all very good naturedly though.

Cher evidently has tweeted some choice words for Bruno admonishing him.

I love Chaz’ attitude. He seems to be a very thoughtful person who keeps peoples’ feelings in mind at all times. I guess his have been hurt often enough.

Monica Seles was the tennis player. She never got over being self-conscious–it was painful to watch.

The volleyball player, Misty May (who had Maks as a partner), reminds me of Hope (but with better attitude). But she was really making great progress before she had to leave with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Natalie Coughlin was the swimmer. I didn’t know her (had to look it up), so you’re right about miniscule fan base not helping.

LOVED Shawn Johnson and Kristi Yamaguchi though!

I have not liked Max ever since he spanked his partner, Brandy, during one season. What the heck?! Carrie Ann called him out on it and he went all ballistic on her that season.

His exchange with Len was uncalled for. And his claiming that DWTS is HIS show is pure hubris. Can him and let’s move on…

That will be something to ponder today. I am thinking of TV shows and movies. I guess there are a few shows that portray heavy women in a positive light (Drop Dead Diva). What about guys? Don’t heavy actors of both genders have to settle for being the funny best friend? IRL, I think maybe guys are treated better. Or maybe since most are taller and bigger boned, they can get buy with more “extra pounds” than women.

He was talking about the women on the show, who are lauded for how much weight they’re losing. They aren’t called Oompa Loompas, etc.

Maks was on GMA and didn’t back down. In fact, he ratcheted it up in some respects! Robin asked about old pros like Derek, and Maks talked about how Derek is most protective of his career and about some of the great dancers he’s been paired with, indicted that he’s getting a sorrier pull.

Yes, he meant on DWTS. He wasn’t making any statement about how overweight women are treated generally. The judges did not call Kirstie Alley an ewok or a penguin or any round object that I can recall.

His ego is certainly bigger than life. His attitude will just hurt himself and his partners. If he doesn’t buy the premise of the show, then quit. Unless his grandmother died yesterday, I’m sure he has some things to apologize for.

I love the misguided “freedom of speech” speech. Except for the fact that the drama he brings helps the show with ratings, he might find out that his free speechifying can get him fired.

Maks up to his same old “tricks” once again this week… I guess when it is “his” show he can 1) have a stand-in dance teacher help Hope with their entire Samba routine while he watches from across the room and 2) ridicule his partner in front of all the other Team Paso members. In nice payback fashion, Derek stepped in and calmly showed her a part of the routine that was frustrating Maks so much. This simply can not be staged. No one would want to look like that big of an a-hole in front of millions of viewers. I know I wouldn’t.

The Rikki v JR competition goes to Rikki this week, bad rib and all.
