I am wearing an emerald cocktail dress to an event soon and planned to wear beige heels but now whilst shopping
for them, noticed that there are all shades of beige/nude shoes…is there a rule here? what would be the best
color?

I would do a beige/ nude close to your skin tone in a dressy fabric - not leather.

@pizzagirl is good with shoes . . . paging now

Or BunsenBurner… surprised she hasn’t shown up here yet.

Whichever you can find that are comfortable. Don’t ruin your evening or your feet. Unless you are on national TV that evening, nobody is going to notice your shoes.

A shoe color close to the skin tone of your legs will make your legs look longer.

Find the pair that is the most comfortable. My daughter says…lighter color is better. She says no cloth shoes unless you are getting something scrappy. If a regular pump…get a nice leather.

I just took a quick look at Lord and Taylor shoes and now my side and top margins are full of shoe ads! Love shoe shopping. Lots of satin peep toe pumps in varying heights.

ETA - yes, you can find cute stylish shoes for your event. I like platform heels ( less stress on your foot) with a rounded toe.

Can you give us an example of what you would consider different shades of beige/nude?

Don’t forget the nude fishnets-- just don’t Google image search it…

The nude fishnet thing must be very regional. See before wearing.

I wore an emerald raw silk dress perhaps five or six years ago and wore champagne metallic strappy suede sandal. That description sounds terrible, but basically a very pale metallic gold.

Actually it sounds very cool!

@dragonmom, you missed the laugh from the nude hosiery thread @-)

LOL, GMT!

I would get a nude shoe that matches your skin color, but not in fabric. I think leather or patent leather would look great, but I would stay away from suede and most fabrics.

Some examples:

A few styles of Sam Edelman shoes look like JCs and can be acquired without breaking your budget. :)

Flesh-tone patent leather?

I was looking at these two

I love the Jessica Simpson pair! I would choose that pair between the two.

Wow, you are a brave soul to wear these soles. Go for it! My kiddo says JS high heels are “comfortable”. I would go for that one.
