**Dartmouth 2014 Waitlist Thread**

D received same email as well. As far as the issue of full pay v. FA, she sid NOT check the box saying she would be appying for FA (full pay candidate), so I’m not sure it makes a difference (at least not in our case). Does anyone know any of the “very small number” of applicants who were pulled from the WL?

@light, yep, they do! where did you end up deciding to go, if you don’t mind me asking?

And I wonder about the number they pulled off the waitlist, too. You’d think that at least ONE of them would be a CC member… Hmm…

My son was just accepted off the waitlist. It began “Good news from Dartmouth” with an offer to accept by June 18th. He is very excited. Good luck to everyone.

Congratulations!

Got the same email…did anyone get cut?

Congratulations!

Still on. Why are they doing this to us? If they know that it is unlikely that any more offers will be made, why don’t they just end it already? They don’t need a list of 600 names to fill 4 or 5 spots.

Did anyone else find this email to be a little blunt, too? They start by saying “places are available”, then proceed to tell you that “you’re not getting one.”

@excitedparent… congrats!

i got in toooo!!!1 class of 2014!!! i hope u guys get in this has been one rough ride but I am sure no matter where you all end up u will love it!

Congrats to the two of you for getting in! As jealous of the rest of us are, I’m sure you guys deserved it. Hopefully a few more of us getting lucky!

I’m guessing this probably means we’re going to have to wait at least till June 18th for any other offers to be made; There would probably either need to be significant waitlist movement at peer institutions or a large number of those invited today to turn dmouth down if any more offers of admission are to be sent out.

Another extended list mail. Congrats to the accepted few!

At this point, is there any relevance to the “extended waitlist” vs the regular one? Can someone explain what the “extended waitlist” is?

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking flyingllama.

But I guess things will be resolved by July 1. Anyway, that email was kind of harsh and abrupt:

“We have reviewed the candidacies of the remaining active applicants on our waiting list and have made offers to fill the few places that have become available. I’m writing to let you know that you were not among this small group of applicants.”

The “extended waitlist” is just an informal term for the applicants that remain on the waiting list after a wave of cuts or acceptances or both. At least, that’s my understanding of it. In my post I only meant that I received another “wait a bit longer” type of mail.

Congrats collegesgirl! And congratulations to your son, Excitedparent! =)

Congratulations to the few who got it!
Does anybody know if or when they would expand the class size- would this affect the waitlist?

I don’t think it will affect the waitlist at all … or that’s what the admissions officer told me.

Did the request for 51 more spots pass yet?

I don’t understand why the 51 wouldn’t affect the waitlist at all…I feel like that increase would at least open a few spots…

The admission officer said that it would be highly unlikely they’ll give out any more spots in the latest email.

Wouldn’t that mean even if 51 spots are available they don’t think they’ll offer spots? Maybe they took 51 class increase into consideration when they gave those few seats earlier this week.
