I attended Dartmouth many years ago. I majored in Computer Science.
If you are concerned about LGBTQ-friendly and frat (drinking) scene at Dartmouth, let me share with you on my own experiences 20+ years ago at Dartmouth:
- I was never pressured into drinking. I never even had a sip of alcohol while I was there.
- I’m Asian. Although the majority of people on campus tend to be white, there are enough racial diversity . You will find your group of people there. I’d imagine if Dartmouth having ~4000 students is a concern to you, Amherst having much less a student-body will be an even bigger concern.
- The Greek Life at Dartmouth are pretty inclusive. Most parties and activities are open to the entire campus.
- There are in fact different fraternities on campus. Some are primarily Afro-Americans. There are also a few co-ed houses in the Greek System, of which some were known to have a lot of LGBT members. So, if you want to be in the Greek system (you don’t have to), there are places for you.
- Most kids have open-mind.
