The Thompson lot is very convenient (it’s not as much of a walk as the map might make it appear) – and very big. Did it even fill up at graduation? Can’t imagine having a problem parking there at first year weekend. Enjoy!

We are headed to Hanover tomorrow for the two-day Dimensions event. While my son is staying with a current student on campus, my wife and I will be in a local hotel. Any suggestions about (a) where to eat dinner tomorrow evening and (b) where to eat breakfast on Friday? Anything parents should be sure to do to get a feel for the school, other than the scheduled events obviously?

Thanks.

Murphy’s on the Green is one of my favorites for dinner.

Outside of Hanover we like Simon Pearce in Queechee VT and Elixer in White River Junction. In town we enjoyed Mollys for the typical college campus vibe. Pine at the Hanover Inn is also very good. On the parking question, there is also long term parking behind the Circle K gas station, but it is hard to get. They check the meters frequently and I have donated many times to the Hanover police department…for lack of quarters.

Breakfast at Lou’s is my favorite, be prepared to stand in line.

Thanks for the tips! Looking forward to it and seeing Dartmouth.

If you don’t want to wait for Lou’s or you aren’t very hungry, Dirt Cowboy has a special every morning before 9. Buy a coffee drink with two shots of espresso and get a free scone or muffin.

Or, cross the river to KAF for breakfast. I’m not a big breakfast person, and they have a lot of nice muffin/croissant/etc. options. I actually like their coffee better than Dirt Cowboy, but Cowboy is right there so it was always a toss-up.

Also-the barbeque place is good (can’t think of the name of it now, right near the dirt cowboy)-I like molly’s too- Thanks for the parking tips About!!

and King Arthur Flour has a shop in Baker Library for the ultimate Helicopter parent experience.

I thought the KAF in Baker had been kicked out. No? Maybe that was only the sandwiches (which are also uber good and worth driving across the river to get for lunch). Oh, darn, I want to go back. :(

BBQ place is 3 Guys. It is really good, and they have warm chocolate chip cookies too. All great suggestions here. The Hanover Inn also has a great breakfast ( but I do recommend eating at Lou’s at least once for the experience). I wish I had a '18. I’m very jealous of these families that are just starting 4 years at this glorious campus. I’ll see all you '14 parents at graduation!

in all my trips to Hanover, I never parked anywhere, but:

Free on weekends.

(I feel old – price has gone up!)

My D sent me this video…Dartmouth is a happy place :)

Thanks Dumbo, that’s how you’re going to see me in June, Dancing across Dartmouth, going to miss that place!

That is the Dartmouth my son has attended the last four years! Thanks for posting Dumbo. I’m looking forward to seeing you and Magnum at graduation!

^ We should all meet for coffee or gelato one last time!

Hey LHornmomof 4 nice to hear from you again. I’ll be there in 30 days. It seems like only yesterday when we were sitting at Dirt Cowboy waiting for the buses to return from the Lodge. They all had new friends and were so excited about the future. At Convocation the senior class President told them their 1152 days at Dartmouth would fly by, and indeed, they have. I’ll text you guys when I am in Hanover.

Hey, for those parents who did not get to go to Dimensions this year, here is a link to the video:

S has gotten a job in West Leb, so it looks like I will have an excuse to visit Hanover again! :)
