Hey parents of '14s, its 2 weeks to graduation, let’s see…Green tie… check, camera and 64 gig memory card… check, reservations at Simon Pearce… check, flower leis…check, tissues…check…sigh, looking forward to seeing you all there!

sunscreen (even if it’s overcast) …

Yes, the sun was brutal the day S graduated. Gorgeous day, but 4 hours in the midday sun is toooo much! Some of our party retreated to the treeline! :)

Dinner at Pearce: yum! The atmosphere was delightful, as well as the food.

“sunscreen (even if it’s overcast) …”

Not only sunscreen but also a hat.

How about a CC meet and greet at Dirt Cowboy on Saturday morning, let’s say 9:30ish before the 10 am Class Day Exercises at the BEMA?

I’m in for Sat at 9:30! Magnum, are you going to Simon Pierce on Sunday night after graduation? If so, we will see you there!

Congrats and good luck to all at Graduation! Hard to believe my S graduated a year ago! Definitely miss Hanover. Where did the time fly?

one week to go, thanks for all the support parents. enjoyed my time with you all. I miss Hanover already.

I’m with you, Magnum! My husband and I will have to retire to Hanover, we love it so much! So hard to believe our kids are graduating. Our daughter could not have had a more perfect experience. Looking forward to the big weekend and hoping for decent weather. For all you parents of non-seniors, believe it or not you really do have to think about housing for commencement a year in advance, and it ain’t cheap. I had luck with Airbnb, where you can rent rooms or whole houses from homeowners. Even then, many or most people jack up their rates for big Dartmouth weekends…the local hotels definitely do. We spoke with the Marriott last June who told us the rooms would go for $500.00 per night with a three night minimum. Since we needed two rooms, we almost fell over! $3,000.000 for a graduation weekend!!! We also wanted to be within walking distance of the school, hearing that parking was a bit touchy, so we were willing to pay a premium for that and were lucky to find a condo in town. I’m sure there are more cost-effective opportunities, but I was surprised at what we were going to have to spend. There is the option of staying on campus in the dorms. The location would be perfect, but you might have to share bathrooms and forego air conditioning. If anyone has some creative ways of finding housing, I’m sure the parents behind us would be appreciative to know them!

If I could do it over again, rather than staying at the Marriott (finding parking in town was not an issue if you were willing to come in early and hang out at Starbucks), I’d probably opt for the dorms (although the Marriott has a nice pool, hot tub, exercise room & breakfast). Eh. What do I know? Have a great time, parents of 14s!

Last year we did stay in the dorms and because they use the newer dorms it was fine. Well, probably could have used air conditioning. However, It was so convenient, except for parking because we had to park above the medical school. We also met several sets of parents and enjoyed the conversations. Can’t wait!

The weather forecast for Sunday is sunny and 80. Sounds perfect! I sure hope this forecast is accurate, as the rain plans are not to my liking at all. D turns in her last paper at 5 today and she is done! Senior week sounds like so much fun. She went to the tails by city (forgot its proper name) last night and got to see who was moving to NYC with her. I love the last chances tradition also. In other news, we just returned from NYC where D and roommate signed a lease for their first apartment. It is beautiful but really small. See you all this weekend!

Congrats to all P '14s. Hope you enjoy graduation!
My '15 will require 1 additional engineering class to get BE after he graduates with an AB next June. Does anyone know how this works? Do we pay full tuition for 1 quarter? Is there a part-time status where we can pay for only one course? As we will attend his regular graduation next June, is there another graduation the following June for the BE or does he graduate with a BE in the fall when he finishes?

I’m thinking we should change our CC meet up to 9 am on Saturday. There is an event at 10:15, and seats are first come, first served, so I’ll probably head that way by 9:45 or so. Would that work for everyone? I’m sure we will run into each other at all of the events too! We leave in the am. I’m so excited!

I’m on the continent! Ok let’s meet up at 9:00. Sorry KN don’t know much about the engineering degree requirements.

What a glorious weekend here in Hanover! Arrived on campus and went straight to Lou’s. Meeting a lot of 14s and their proud parents. Took a picture with President Hanlon. Looking forward to dirt cowboy coffee and class day on the morning. Live from Hanover -MPI

Wow, have a great time! MPI, sorry we never met even though our kids did. I will hold down the fort at Lou’s and everywhere else for you, I still have 3 more years of Hanover fun! Congrats to all the grads and parents!

D swears that when she gets married, it will be in Hanover. I shall return!

I’m in Rollins Chapel right now for the baccalaureate so I will reserve it for you!

Where were you on September 15, 2010? 1361 days ago we were moving our Dartmouth 14s into their dorms. Time flies.
