It would really suck for that person if no one wanted to bid on him/her

^Yeah…

At my school all the members of student government auction certain skills off. For example, one friend would bake the winner cookies once a week for two months, since she’s a really good baker. One person offered to make the winner’s Halloween costume, since she’s into fashion and can sew and make clothes and stuff. Someone else was auctioning off a photo shoot, since he’s a pretty pro photographer.

And each person on student government had multiple options, and then the winner could pick what they wanted.

IMO it’s not as risky as the date thing–no one has too high expectations, it’s not awkward, if someone doesn’t get bid on very high it’s because no one wants a Halloween costume right now, not because everyone thinks that person is undesirable/ugly.
