Dazzle dry manicures

The person who invented Dazzle Dry manicures should win a Nobel Prize or something. Wears (almost) as well as a no chip but goes on and off like regular old polish. And it’s hard as a rock dry in 5 minutes! My salon said that almost all their customers have switched to Dazzle Dry. My daughter likes to do her own nails and I bought her the base and top coat for Hanukkah. It is very pricy stuff (25 bucks a bottle!!!) so the manicures cost more ( most places charge 3-5 more than a regular) but very very worth it.

I have not heard of this! Where do you buy it?

I very rarely get manicures because no matter what I do they chip or wear in a couple of days.

My last mani I got a gel, because I had a couple of events to go to and it lasted a solid three weeks!
But I think gel is very hard on the nails and I only do it once a year or so.

@surfcity You can google dazzle dry and they’ll tell you the salons in your area if there are any. Amazon sells the base and top coat I believe but if there’s a salon in your area maybe try it there first on a special occasion. Hint for using the base put the main part of the bottl in a shallow dish of warm water. It makes it easier to work with ( don’t submerge from the bottom of the cap on up)

What I love about it is it lasts beautifully for more than a week or two but is not hard on your nails.

I find that the over the counter gel that’s supposed to last a week is very hard on my nails if I use it too often. But that one you don’t use a base. I wonder if this is different? Just peeked at the store locator, and not one in my city.

Haven’t seen this product but one of my girls likes to get her nails dipped. She prefers it over the gel. She thinks it’s steonger and lasts longer. I tend to just get my nails buffed. It gives them some shine but keeps them healthy.

No salons anywhere near the Philadelphia metro area. Oh well.

My friend just introduced me to Color Street. Pretty cool! Supposed to be 100% nail polish, comes in pre-sized strips you put on your nail and use a file to finish the end off.

My manicurist swears by Dazzle Dry and thinks it’s helpful for troubled nails. I bought mine on Amazon but am taking a break from it now because I was experiencing a lot of splitting. I seem to react to a lot of different nail products. No one else at my salon seems to have a problem with it though. I love how fast it dries and the shine it gives for a full 2 weeks so it’s a bummer if I can’t go back on it.

My experience (and this seems to be the norm) is that gel lasts 2 weeks and dip 3. My daughter gets at least 3 out of gel, but I start to pick at it as soon as it starts to lift a little or the growth shows. The dip is harder to pick at. The dip doesn’t require the light to set it, but really isn’t as great for your nails as it claims. I go through stages where I like one or the other better.

I get 4+ weeks from the powder dip. I do dislike the long time the manicure takes, however. I love the mirror like finish and durability.

I like gel durability, but they are hard on my nails. I do it once or twice a year, based on an event or vacation. However my fingernails grow out very fast. Unless I use a very pale color, it looks bad after 2 weeks.

I prefer Dazzle Dry over a gel manicure because it dries so quickly and lasts a full week, and is far easier to remove. On my nails, gel has to be sanded off and it really damages the nail bed. Unfortunately, I’ve found that after four or five weekly manicures, Dazzle Dry also really dries out my nails. I’m back to a traditional manicure just because it’s the best for my nails. I cannot imagine any manicure lasting more than a week because of the nail growth, not to mention rough looking cuticles; maybe I’m unusual - I do a lot with my hands.

My friend did the dip recently prior to a vacation. She loved it because she said it lasted a long time, but she said it was tough on her nails. Felt like it damaged them. I’ll have to mention the Dazzle Dry to her.

I play classical guitar as a hobby, so my right hand has longer nails and my left hand has short nails. Therefore, I never get manicures as I don’t want to draw attention to that disparity. I think I have had my nails done three times in my life - once for my wedding (I let my left hand nails grow out for that) and twice on vacation. I’m curious as to how much these types all cost and how often you get them? I might need to pitch to dh how much money I am saving him!

I totally gave up manicures because the regular ones don’t last more than a few days without chipping–like gourmetmom, I do a lot with my hands–and the shellac ones destroyed my already weak nails. I haven’t experienced the more advanced gel, dip, and dazzle options. If I found something that lasted and didn’t wreck my nails, I might try it again.

Decades ago I had wraps, but I developed a fungus under one and had to remove them. At the time I was working in Manhattan and they were cheap at the nail places on the nearby block of Korean businesses. That was the only time in my life that I had consistently nice-looking nails.

I have never met a nail polish that would survive a day in organic chemistry labs, no matter how good I was at wearing gloves. For this reason, I am not into painted nails, although they do look nice.

I am always jealous when I am in a meeting and see someone with nice polished nails. But I just can’t spare the time and money to do to a salon once a week. There are salons on every corner around me but between the hour long process (plus extra time being careful until they fully dry) and the expense ($25 or so?) I just can’t justify it for ME.

Not judging others who do get a weekly manicure, it’s just not for me. I am sure I spend time/money on other things that they would not do.

If I spend some time at home I can give myself a halfway decent manicure - I do that if I have a big meeting or something else the next day. If I have a big party/wedding/event, I will splurge for a professional.

I do get pedicures at a salon because they last forever and I do love seeing polished toes - I can’t stand to see my toes bare!

I’m not that concerned about the dip or gel wrecking my nails. They grow completely back out in about 5 weeks. If I don’t have gel or dip on them, I pick and chew, so that wrecks them anyway. I keep my nails really short or else I can’t do things like fasten jewelry. Dip lasts 3 weeks so that isn’t all that much time commitment and you get too pick all sorts of colors. I take a long break a couple of times a year.

I do get a weekly manicure, but a neutral color like Essie Ballet Slippers, so the chips don’t show.

I like getting manicures but conventional polish jobs last 48 hours for me and I won’t do gel b/c I don’t want to damage nails and I don’t want my nails constantly covered. Recently I tried Essie Treat Love Color, and it is great. No base coat, no top coat, and it lasts for several days. I get a manicure at a salon that lasts 2 days, remove it, and then use the Essie TLC for another couple of weeks.

I did gel a few weeks ago for my HS reunion. Two,weeks later, I returned to fix them up. Color is palest pink, so looks natural. It helps me not pick at them. It takes time, but it’s worth it. I can’t believe I waited until late 60’s wto have nice nails.
