I have been enjoying clementines. and am looking into apple recipes.
Bigelow is now selling apple cinnamon tea. Not quite in the mood for the pumpkin and ginger bread stuff. Just can’t eat too much of it. Not a real big fan.
Yesterday I saw an article about planning your Thanksgiving meal. Just not what I want to think about right now.
Just want to enjoy fall one month at a time. Christmas can wait till after Thanksgiving.
I hear you, raclut! I was greeted by two lit up artificial Christmas trees when I walked into our Costco last night! Yes, they were positioned next to the gigantic Halloween spider. Sigh. Fall is supposed to be enjoyed one holiday at a time… now it is a hodgepodge of all of them!
^^ The sight of Christmas decorations just makes me feel stressed. The store displays make me feel like I am always running behind when all I want to do is enjoy the present and not worry about the future. I read that it is also time for pear recipes.
At hallmark they have Halloween, thanksgiving, and Christmas cards all next to each other. What’s the rush? Watch all the stores be open all day Thanksgiving this year. I plan to stay home.
^^raclut: You read my mind. I was at the grocery store yesterday and saw at least 10 different variety’s of the pear. I’m not a huge pear lover, but I’ve tried some of the smaller, less famous ones and they are delicious! Seckel is one…redddish and small…pears get no attention or love…but they can be delicious and versatile!
Talk about Xmas. I’m doing John Grisham version of skipping Xmas, which I’ve planed for years, my kids have finally agreed to it.
@DrGoogle --What’s the “John Grisham version of skipping Christmas”?
No Xmas at home instead a vacation in the Caribbean, it’s Hawaii for us. I’ll skip all the gift giving and Xmas decorations. I might order take out Chinese food for Xmas day, pretending I’m In NYC, watching Netflix.
Dr Google, see you in HI!
I’d be happy to join you too.
There is Christmas stuff out at our CVS now.
This is MICHIGAN. If it is still warm enough out for me to wear shorts, there is NO WAY people should even be thinking about Christmas. GAH!
I love fall partially because I love pumpkin stuff. To me, late September is fall, so I don’t mind pumpkin stuff popping up then (and apples and pumpkins can coexist in harmony; I wouldn’t mind if they both came up at the same time. I have a recipe for apple pumpkin muffins that I loooooove).
But I agree with @deega123; most of the pumpkin-spice stuff doesn’t actually taste like pumpkins. Pumpkins are not a sweet fruit, and most real pumpkin-flavored stuff isn’t very sweet unless you add a boatload of sugar. So I like to make my pumpkin goods froms scratch.
Jimmy Fallon weighs in on Starbucks bringing out the drink a month early:

Ahhh… Nothing says summer refreshment like a cup of piping hot caffeinated squash.
For me fall means recipes with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, all the things that go into making chai tea.
I thought of this thread today at the grocery store. I’ve noticed the pumpkin spice stuff sneaking onto the shelves for about a month now. Today the store pulled out all the stops and gathered the fall items into one display at the front of the store. There were dozens of products.
The one that made me laugh was the pumpkin spiced Twinkies.
Funny to associate tropical Indian chai with fall (chai means tea, btw- redundant use so many times, sigh). Indians drink it all year long!
Ok, it’s October 1st. Pumpkin things now permissible. Keep the apple in the mix too though!!!
@juillet, share your recipe with us!! Apple pumpkin muffins sound amazing!!
It’s legit to drink pumpkin spice now. Yeah. I will get one Monday. I’m off for the weekend.
Honestly, I have never had a pumpkin spice drink so I guess I don’t know what I’m missing.
I had to laugh this morning. Walked into the office and someone had brought a pack of pumpkin spice Oreos.
Wasn’t tempted but apparently someone was cause they were gone before noon!
