what score has this method allowed you to get?
i disagree, I got a 780 reading by reading the whole passage carefully and then re-reading sections for the line reference questions. Sometimes there are very similar answer choices that can be very hard to choose between without carefully reading the whole passage.
Do any of you remember the question about mark Twain and Austen. Was it archaic language and symbols or being a member of a rarefied community
so what is the best method to get an 800 in CR for those who can do it regularly?
I have some questions on the CR that may have been answered already, but would appreciate if anyone could help out.
- For the Japanese mother reading, did you put down "to connect with her mother" or "naive of language translation barriers"?
- For the Jane Austen short paragraph, did you put "appreciation for archaic language and symbolism" or "sense of membership in a rarefied community"?
- For the time-train-travel one, what did you put down for the last question about what the author implies about walking, as mentioned in the last paragraph? I put down "charming but unproductive" but pretty sure it's incorrect.
- For the writer-procrastination one, what did you put down for the reason as to why the author talks about writing nonfiction right after he mentions writing as fiction? I put down "to show that even though he doesn't write fiction or philosophy, his work isn't necessarily easier". b. What did you put down for what one of the authors would say to the other after hearing about that author's process of writing about factual incidents, like choosing what information to highlight and stuff? I think I put down "it would cause a decrease in mental concentration" or something like that.
Thanks!
@NCfalcon25 Dont hold me to these answers but this is what I put. Good chance they are wrong though…
- Connect with mother
- sense of membership
3.something about not enough patience
4.his work isnt neccesarily easier
5.cause a decrease in mental concentration
someone confirm…
- same, 2. same, 3. I put develops creative thinking, 4. can't remember but i think I put that, 5. yes
what did you put for the musket scenario with the procrastination?
@pokemon1 @NCfalcon25 1. connect with mother 2. sense of membership 3. something about thinking has a productive part that allows you to think 4. his work isnt necessary easier 5. i dont remember that question anyone can elaborate?
@mochilate1897 i put absurd example to illustrate a point.
@mochilate1897 agree with everything you said.
Thanks @pokemon1 and @mochilate1897 . Also, curve predictions? I know I missed 1 on math and since I’ve been hearing this is an easy test for math, it’ll bring me down to 770M (no improvement). For writing, I got two 35 question writing sections, so one of them was experimental. Anyone else get those two, with one of them having a passage at the end about eggs and the other about vertical farming (which one’s experimental)? And worst case scenario, 7-8 wrong on CR. Hopefully >=700?
i put the self-contradictory choice, because wasnt the author trying to show how writers do their job voluntarily, but they procrastinate instead?
absurd example seems like the more conservative answer though
@mochilate1897 @facsimilecoterie I put that too
@NCfalcon25 Absurd example?
yea absurd example to illustrate a point that the writers were not forced.
@mochilate1897 Yeah about it being absurd
@NCfalcon25 the vertical farming is not experimental.
