<p>I think I must be given the financial aid I need in at least one college. Don’t you think?? I don’t have any safeties though.</p>
<p>all these places give aid to intels but the thing is you will be competing with a lot of people for it…so u have to have a really great essay and ecas…u should also consider some safties…btw where are you from?</p>
<p>the good thing is i’m Honduran… I really can’t say I won’t have to compete with many other Hondurans because I don’t know for a fact how many Hondurans apply to U.S colleges. From personal experience though, I surely don’t expect much competition. I’ve met few Hondurans who try to get a foreign education. Usually too, their stats are much lower than mine. </p>
<p>In this sense, and perhaps in the only, it’s good to be Honduran. My scenario is different than that of students from India, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, or other Asian countries specially.</p>
<p>I hope this turns out to be very beneficial.
I was top 5% of my class, my teacher rec’s are great, EC’s are not many, but I’m exploiting them as much as I can. I have one that’s really good and it’s the subject of my Common App essay.
Essays? Everyone thinks his/her essays are great. </p>
<p>I can’t apply to any more colleges. I’m wondering how you’ve got some safeties? And why are they safeties?</p>
<p>Actually you wont just be competing with Hondurans but with international students from all over the world and the competetion gets fiercer when you ask for aid…theres no rule that says that a college must take a student from a certain country…I chose my safties by picking colleges that are not that highly ranked but give a lot of aid to intels with similar stats as mine (LSU gives 100% scholarships)…however there are no real safties for intels asking for aid…you should look into Berea College where everyone admitted has to pay about $2000 only for rooms and boarding and the great (or not so great) thing is they take only one student from each country each year</p>
<p>hmm… I got my Dec SATII scores… And they are ****** bad… another bad thing is that I am applying only to top notchs… + I require loads of financial aid… So I am all screwed up… and yes… I have my MIT interview 2m… And I am sitting here… brooding over my marks… WOW!</p>

<p>what I meant, tanveer, is that colleges usually want a limited number of international students from a certain country. Of course all internationals compete with each other, but the competition is tougher for an Indian than for a Honduran, I would think. Why? Because if 10 Indians apply to XXX college, and all those Indians have better stats than me, I think it is more likely that I am chosen along with 9 Indians, then being left out and 10 Indians admitted. Here’s when the diversity issue becomes important. Does what I say sound crazy?</p>
<p>for some colleges it might be true…but for most competitive unis like the ones u r applying to they will probably rather take the 10 Indians…but don’t lose hope, with ur stats u will get into at least one of the places…just try to maker your essay stand out from the rest</p>
<p>i got a 2260/1560 from a 2040. i cant believe it. thats a 220 point increase</p>
