I go to a crazy private school that is ranked top 15 in california by niche and other websites. I cannot take an array of AP courses next year as I’d like to due to my schools conservative AP policies.
Here is my schedule next year:
Honors Pre-Calculus
AP Physics 1
AP Eng Lang. and Comp.
AP US History
AP Spanish(Online thru WASC accredited school; School doesn’t offer course until senior, but I’d like to finish it next year so I can focus on STEM next year)
AP Economics(Online thru same WASC accredited school; My school has an econ class but It doesn’t teach a whole lot of useful stuff so I wanna take AP Econ)
Over this coming up summer:
AP Psych(Online)
Opinions? (I plan on applying to all UCs and some ivies)
Does my schedule sound manageable? Does it look bad to take courses online, even if the online school has a lot of online accreditation? Also, would it be appealing to colleges if I were to have taken more APs than my class mates by the time I’m applying to colleges? (BTW I’m not taking these APs just to try and get an advantage over my peers, but also because I enjoy Economics and Spanish and the other subjects I’m taking classes in)
Sorry for all of the questions! I’m just curious
Thanks!
5Ap’s is overdoing it. But the balance is okay and your wasc classes might be a bit more flexible.
You don’t need to take AP psych unless you’re really into it. It won’t do you any good for admissions so only take it if you love psych, and if you love psych why not take Psych 101 at a community college ?
Remember, as Stanford put it, it’s not a game of who has the most AP 's, wins.
I want to take psych because some of my friends that go to my city’s local public school told me that it is one of the most interesting classes that they’ve taken. I would have probably chosen to take it during the year instead of Econ, but since UCs count summer courses towards GPA, I thought that I may as well take the course during the summer so I can take Econ during the year, since Economics is a relatively familiar topic to me. Also, the AP Pysch class that the online school offers is a year long AP (Idk why), but I’m taking a condensed version of it during the summer. Anyways, thanks a ton for the feedback!
