Decisions Are Up!

gogogo

he had a 35 composite ACT score, that’s almost perfect. that makes up for his slightly below average UC GPA.

haha yeah i guess

i suppose im too used to seeing the long lists of ecs etc etc haha

Accepted Muir

SAT- 2190
dont know UC GPA, but uw 3.96
Out-of-state

accepted, ERC -

UC GPA: 4.09
SAT1s: 770 verbal, 730 writing, 600 math
SAT2s: 720 USHistory, 700 Physics, several others around there
ECs: not terribly impressive, but excuseable. started (and solely ran) a business handling around $25k in transactions a year, but not much besides that.
Essays: well-written… and life circumstances (read: severe health issues) that probably got me points.

Glue!; severe health issues got me diddly squat. Hopefully UCLA will be nicer. I was diagnose with cancer last year and missed 3/4 of my jr year, but still am graduating on time and maintained a 4.0 GPA and 4.5 W GPA.

^Your gPA was still perfect despite cancer? What’s wrong with UCSD? Gosh! I’m sure UCLA’s decisions will cause less controversy.

I missed (or did homebound) just about all but one semester of high school, and had a couple very major back surgeries. (as in, all but one semester total during all four years)

80% of that time was due to malpractice on the part of two of my doctors, causing me to be essentially unable to function at anything above an eat-sleep level six days out of every seven.

wellwritten essays about it (and its inevitable effect on my GPA/ECs)

rejected. 1970 SAT. SAT II 750 us history, 650 english lit. 3.7 UC gpa.
I thought I would for sure get in. Im really surprised.

I was on Homebound too for 3/4 of the year. Then resumed high school and maintained 4.0. My GPA is pretty perfect. 4.1 UC GPA and 3.95 Weighted GPA for 9th-11th.

SATs are weak, but I think we know the reason for that one.

Anyways, congrats Glue!

My essays were very well-written as well and I had faxed over numerous supporting doctor documents including a copy of my diagnosis and roadmap including all the dates I was in the hospital, every chemotherapy treatment, every Emergency room visit, every blood tranfusion, everything. But, they still did not want me.

see it’s times like the above that make me mad at the point system…i thought the point system awarded points just for that reason, that people who dealt with huge problems and still maintained awesome (better than mine and i got in) grades could get in

I’m hoping for UCLA
They don’t have the stupid POINT system and they won’t deny you if you have one bad thing compared to the other features in your application, i.e. mediocre/low SATs.

AMEN to that BruinsJEW (interesting sn) haha but yeah im crossing my fingers for UCLA.

well good luck to you (both of you)…personally i’m hoping for berkeley, but la would be nice too :P

Forget it, I just figured out I’m not getting sick over college decisions. I’m already in a college that I would be happy at, and if I’m not good enough for UCLA, then whatever. I’m just so blah. All these colleges have put a bad taste in my mouth with their decisions. And I’m tired. Like everything in life, college is a competition. Everyone competes to get into these top schools, and the funny thing is, that a person who goes to the crappiest school ever probably will turn out better then these people who go to Harvard, because they have less competition and will not be burned out.

I’m tired of living in a society that is built on Darwinism and survival of the fittest.

i got into ERC too…and wanted to go to Muir also… We’re gonna have some painful writing classes (MMW). Can we switch colleges?

wait you are already in college BruinsJew?

taniuxka20: You can, but from what I hear it’s pretty tough… and I think you have to complete your college’s GEs first. I got into ERC too, although for me it was my first pick… Try to look on the bright side, supposedly ERC’s dorms are really nice

Yes,

4:

UMass, UWashington Seattle, UCF, FSU, and Maryland soon.

oh wow! so you were transferring into CA colleges or something? haha im sorry if i dont completely understand. but you’re saying your already in college right now right? not merely you got accepted to those colleges? haha my brain is frazzled at this moment so excuse my incompetence :(

No,

I’ve been accepted to colleges, hah.
