Deerfield GPA Needed For Ivy League/Top 10 College Admissions

I have a close family friend whose son goes to Deerfield and is in his 3rd year. They are interested in the Ivies, Chicago, Duke, or Stanford. He has a ~91 GPA at Deerfield. It’s a very competitive school that grade deflates. Does anyone know if this GPA is competitive for those schools from Deerfield as a non-athlete, no connections, etc? He is low-income and got in through a non-profit for disadvantaged kids similar to Prep for Prep in NYC.

Deerfield has deep college advising resources and data to help the student understand their chances at these schools. If he’s a junior, he has already had meetings with his advisor and should have access to Deerfield’s Naviance platform, which should have graphs based on recent Deerfield graduates to help with estimating admissions chances at any college of interest. Some things will not be visible through a student or parent account on that platform, like legacy or athletic hooks, but that’s what the advisor is for, to help stratify the student’s list for reach, target and likely schools. Also, Deerfield’s advising staff will schedule meetings with parents in January of a student’s junior year. They should bring their questions to that meeting.

Asking for a friend is not permitted on CC. Please ask your friend to open their own account to ask their question.

And really, the answer to your friend’s question is what was posted above, and I’d identical to my answer to your earlier thread, substituting “Deerfield” for “Andover.”
