There are many similarities between Deerfield and Hotchkiss. I would say that the new athletic center at Deerfield is larger and offers more activities & spaces - although the Hotchkiss center is really beautiful and impressive. Plus, there is a tee box right outside the door of the Hotchkiss athletics center!

Deerfield students are competitive in athletics and academics. Many kids are double or triple varsity athletes.
I can’t speak to the other schools on grade compression, but Deerfield is academically rigorous and it’s tough to get the high GPA’s that are enjoyed by many students back home. No weighted grades and no class rankings. FWIW - only 1 student in the class of 2020 last year had a GPA of 95. Only 18 students of @210 had a GPA of 93 - 94.99. Please refer to the school profile for information @ Classical Studies Program, AP courses, Honors courses, and STEM courses in your particular area of interest (Robotics, Differential Eq., O-Chem, Dig Logic & Comp Architecture, Experimental Neurology, Electric Automobile Design, etc)
