Best of luck

Just my opinion…as I noted (which doesn’t matter and noted that too). I wish all students good luck…and most importantly success.

Good luck!!

My D was waitlisted after being deferred in 2021. Gave up after that. Good luck to your son!

Has anyone heard of anyone that was deferred from U of SC getting their decision? I read in FB that it is possible that some kids heard.

Not yet! Seems early to be hearing. They said mid March but I’m hoping it comes earlier (closer to Clemson’s decisions (mid Feb)).

Can I give this a thumbs-down? Sorry for your D! Stringing along is not kind IMO

My dtr had her heart set on Clemson. She was crushed when she got deferred. She was accepted to UGA and NC State….and now she is rethinking her whole plan and is mad at Clemson. This process is so frustrating.

Your daughter has the wrong attitude sorry to say.

She’s great. UGA and NC State - both hard admits.

They love her. Love them back.

Clemson didn’t - so forget them.

Go have a great four years with the one that wants to play !!!

The process isn’t that frustrating. If it was easy people would apply to only one school.

Someone who got into UGA and NC State is impressive in my book.

Ps deferred does not equal rejected - that’s a WL. They simply haven’t made a decision. So it is a bit of an overrreaction.

Clemson defers a lot since this is only the second year of EA, it’s really not personal.

Haha, a woman scorned. I can relate!! We had a favorite that deferred our son, and now we have much better offers. I recall a Rule of Power: Learn to disdain the thing you cannot have. Human nature.

However I think this is a very good point about the impact of the huge number of deferrals of potential students. Seems some newly popular universities have overused them this year to give themselves options, but in so doing have turned off students and families (and high schools whose guidance counselors next year may dissuade applicants.) I’ve heard that Clemson only accepted the top applicant from our high school - and that student has FAR better options. I guess they know what they’re doing…

Thank you! We have been telling her that it isn’t personal. It does seem that they took the top applicant from her high school for EA. And that individual has much better options. My dtr is majoring in Food Science so she only applied to specific schools. So it will come down to the specifics of each program at the school.

When in Feb do we think decisions will come out from Clemson for deferral candidates? Any insight from last year?

I think earlier in this thread, some were thinking 2/14, but………idk. Good luck everyone!!

I heard Clemson is likely Feb 14….lets hope :face_with_spiral_eyes:

U of SC *could be as early as Feb 28 and the latest I saw from last year was Mar 9.

I know my dtr could not get into either, but I still look forward to just knowing.

Yup…and possibly waitlisted!

That might make me pull some hair out. I don’t know why I didn’t consider that but UGH. Any likelihood they would let them know ahead of this suspected 2/14 date?

I really don’t know about hearing from Clemson prior to Feb 14 ish…
