The Common Data Set for Clemson from 22-23 states that about 10k applicants were offered a spot on the wait list, about 4500 accepted the spot on the wait list and 1162 students on the wait list were offered spots. I like numbers and stats…
The comparable numbers for U of SC are 5847 initially offered the wait list, 2238 accepted, and only 28 were offered a spot off of the wait list…
Hopefully we hear from Clemson two weeks from today!
Fingers crossed for you all! Also my daughter is super excited about RD coming out too. She has spoke with a few possible roomies but she feels like she doesnt have a ton of options just yet since RD has not come out yet. She wants to see all her roommate options before deciding. LOL!
Did your kids submit a letter of continued interest after being deferred?
For Clemson, my daughter submitted fall grades and some extra info about fall activities/honors. Also just generally reiterated interest. She also emailed her admissions counselor with some questions to make sure they knew she was still very interested. Don’t know if it will help!
Our daughter did exactly this too! Although her email has gone unanswered so she was bummed about that.
That is surprising. She got an email response pretty quickly with a detailed response. Maybe email again?
My daughter submitted first semester grades but am wondering if she should have sent some sort of letter but do they even read them?
My dtr did similar…in the box that they provided after being deferred.
Does the applicant need to resubmit the SRAR with senior first semester grades if they were deferred?
Not that I know of, for either school.
I called the admissions department and they said they don’t require an updated SRAR or first semester grades…but that seems odd to me when most colleges would like to see those after being deferred. Just don’t want to make a mistake…
Thank you for calling! And I agree, I don’t want to miss something that my dtr should’ve done.
Good luck everyone! I made sure my son withdrew his acceptances. I know they say it doesn’t matter, but makes me feel better, and if everyone did and also withdrew if they ED’d, couldn’t it all be better maybe somehow until these application number get in check.
I so appreciate that and we will do the same!
The difference between USC, Clemson and most colleges is that they say they didn’t have time to cull through all the applications for EA. They just looked at grades, rankings and test scores. SO that’s what I noticed.
From everything I’ve seen and heard (online, Youtube, talking to friends) it’s impossible to predict admissions anywhere. I’ve seen kids with 1500+, 4.0 GPAs be turned away from every Ivy League school and kids with 3.7s get into schools with <10% admissions rates. It’s crazy. Just know that, wherever your daughter ends up, that’s where she’s supposed to be…as long as she’s happy. I’m a big believer in “everything for a reason.”
Anybody know when Clemson will release the final decision from deferrals?
I hope it’s SOON! Just so we can move on one way or another.
