Deferred from Clemson and or University of South Carolina 2024

I was wondering the same
Thjng about updating. I was planning on doing it. Not sure if it’s necessary but I figured it would help

From what I gathered while speaking with an AO at another school is that Clemson would be able to see an updated date for a new SRAR submission, but use the original file submitted with your application for EA @ Clemson. But to be safe, I would call Clemson Admissions and confirm it won’t delay or hiccup your review at Clemson for their process. I don’t think it will. What happened at UTK was an error and should not happen.

Not only is it selective but they are extremely restrictive of the GPA to enter the major during sophomore year. I know students that were .01 from the Entrance to Major that had to consider another major due to these requirements. (I am from PA.)

My son was deferred by U of SC in December. I just assumed that a deferral was a slow roll to a declination and wrote it off. But based on what I’m seeing here, maybe there is still a chance? Do you all know of any students who have been admitted after being deferred?

Back in 2020, my son was deferred and then got into USC’s Bridge program. There’s definitely a chance to get in!!

He ended up going to another school to play varsity rugby, BUT then transferred to USC in his sophomore year. He loves it.

We had a few girls from my daughter’s school do the Bridge program last year and they had a good experience! I’ll be happy if my own daughter gets bridged.

Great to hear, thank you!

Would you mind explaining what the bridge program entails? Is it the same campus? Or a smaller school and then you “bridge over”?

Some students are offered the bridge program (please Google for specifics!) wherein they live in UofSC dorms etc but take classes at the local CC about 2-3 miles down the road. I guess they offer it to a group that they consider not quite in their GPA range? Clemson has the same thing…my dtr would do either, I’m pretty sure.

Would they really?I would ask to speak to kids in the programs. Personally I don’t love these when the students can have great four year options already. Love those that love you, that don’t put needless requirements on you. And let you be a complete participant on day one….just how I feel (which doesn’t matter).

Anyway both programs below.

I can finally reply!

Although it is not the ideal admissions, it is one that my dtr would be happy with…at either school. And thank you for the links!

On Clemson parent pages I’ve read nothing but great reviews of clemson’s bridge and summer start programs. The students live on campus, and some ask for summer start to get acclimated and get some college credits before the fall semester.

Agree! I know a few kids who’ve gone through the Clemson Bridge program as well and it’s been a great experience! One who did the summer start program and was very happy.
