Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

Not really, we are just not a patient group. They said April, they always said April. The fact that a few have heard is wonderful but they have not let us down, they have not led us astray. April people.

@Seacoast Couldn’t agree more. It’s a bonus that some found out before early April (which is the only date they have committed to for deferred students placed into the regular pool). I know it has been frustrating since many sent out their application in October but this is the home stretch! One thing my S keeps asking and I don’t know the answer to is this: are you “branded” a deferred student with different criteria and a different approach and timetable or can you take them literally that you are part of the regular pool and not on some sort of “deferred list”. Any thoughts on this?

When we get in it all won’t matter, believe me I read the people who came back from last year and the year before…most were initially deferred or the parents said “my son or daughter was deferred” and now thriving or graduating. It’s just the process, once we get there it won’t matter, much like the kid sitting next to you is IS or OOS or paid for it all or is on a full ride scholarship. We are just Wolverines…and that’s that. But I’m 17 what do I know?

Ok so for all of you thinking there is no place for the one’s waiting or deferred or yet to hear RD. On the UMich website so you can look for yourself:
2016 - 55,504 applications were received, 15,871 accepted, 6689 enrolled

So here’s my point, while many have got in already, heck maybe even hundreds, look at how many more they need to get through. There is plenty of space. Remember this is an acceptance or denial of your application not YOU. Great schools pass up 4.0 perfect SAT kids all the time, wanna feel better read the MIT or WUSTL thread or any other great school (just cause I know they announced already). We’ll all be ok, the pain of waiting is just that a pain…believe me I just want an answer so I can get excited and start planning. So vent here if you must but know you aren’t alone…oh and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! May a bit of luck come to us all!

@gdcap62 My S was deferred Michigan (Ross) and Northeastern. Yesterday was decision day at Northeastern and he was accepted. My other data point is that in our suburban Boston high school (public schools with an average SAT of almost 2000…yes overly competitive) every kid that has gone to Michigan in the last five years was initially deferred. My point in saying all of this is that I don’t think there is a stigma associated with a deferred application at most colleges…especially Michigan. Michigan gets so many applications I think they accept the obvious ones (high everything; compelling back story; feeder high schools) and then defer much more than most schools. Just my gut on the whole situation. I hope your S gets good news soon!

EVERYONE SHUUUT UIIPPP I HAD A DREAM LAST NIGHT AND IN IT I GOT INTO U OF M. It literally felt so real and when I woke up I was like:( I’m taking it as a good sign thooooo. I’m not even joking I really had this dream I’m shook.

OH NO!!! How are you holding up after such a horrifying experience

Does anyone know when UMich decisions are coming out?

I actually had a dream that I was rejected about a month ago. I woke up drentched in sweat and had to get up right there and then and check WA. Turns out I was still deferred and that was actually a huge RELIEF. Haha UofM has me so preoccupied that I literally have trouble sleeping sometimes. The funny thing is that I know it is not the end of the world with I don’t get in.

@besteffort123 If the bi-weekly trend continues, which I imagine it will, the next batch of decisions will come out next Thursday at midnight

@UofMichigan1999 I had a dream i was rejected too. In my dream i went on campus (lol it looked nothing like AA though) and I was by this water fountain and they handed me my rejection letter.

clicks on view decision for the hundredth time

when less deserving people than you get in but u dont :–)

What time does ny come out?

@ScaredofSchool They probably would have came out by now (3PM) if they were coming out today

someone at my school got accepted to the school of nursing last night

@uofmfan That’s kind of rude. I don’t think it’s fair to say who is “less deserving” especially when you don’t know much about any of them.

Michigan. Please. I don’t want to go to uiuc.

When actual tards from your school get in but you’re stuck on the deferred list>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

People that cheat on everything in front of them get into UofM before you do >>>>>>>>>>>>
