For those that applied to U OF M… if denied (or waitlisted for some) … what school will you be attending instead ?
@uofmfan def enroll at your second choice if you are waitlisted because the umich waitlist acceptance rate last year was only 0.8%. heres the statistics from college board for umich:
Wait list Statistics
Offered place on wait list11,197
Number accepting place 3,970
Accepted from list36
waitlist results come out in june. enrollment deposit is non refundable. remember you can always transfer!
MSU baby
i think the second choice school for most michigan residents is msu because its the second best school in michigan unless you have money to go out of state.
Eastern Michigan (most likely), Kalamazoo College, or College of William & Mary
Uiuc :((
Georgia Tech #GoJackets
Maybe I’ll get into UC Berkeley who knows?
yea. dont plan on going to u of m if im waitlisted. got into MSU…definetly not the best school but it’ll do. anyways i was reading this post and it says U of M is one of the schools that defers the most applicants. makes me think they need more admissions officers to read everyone’s apps. no student should be waiting 6+ months for a decision.
according to what people have told me U Mich only accepts about 20% of EA applicants and defers the rest.
also another hopeful thing - my friend (deferred) had 1 C, 3 A’S, & 3 B’s on his senior year semester 1 report card that he decided to send…still got in.
I would have to pick between Kalamazoo and UIUC
ugh
I’ll never understand this. My son is 2/130 in his class, 32 ACT 3.92 UW. Took 3 APs last year and another 5 this year with a 3.85. Was deferred and waiting. A mystery. I agree no one should wait this long. Now they are talking about beyond the first week of April?? He applied EA 10/25. Strange. They just need more readers. By deferring tens of thousands and wait listing 11,000, they are really not making decisions as much as pushing paper through through a (very) small funnel. Consider this: how is it helpful to defer 11,000 when you only end up needing 36 for a school the size of UM.
1300/1600 SAT, never took the ACT, 3.77 UW don’t even know why im still hopeful but #stillnotrejected also throw in 3 APs, 3 Honors, varsity tennis, NHS. that’s about all.
Do you guys think some will come out either thurs or friday of this week?
@michiganea2021 I think so
Miami (Fla.) or Virginia Tech for my son. They seem to flip flop weekly, which is why we’d like Michigan to just say yes or no already so he can make up his mind!
I really hope some more decisions come this week
I got deferred and never heard but just got into bu and northeastern. I think they are playing games and it has made me less interested. I really do love Michigan and I know they have a lot of apps but ivy’s give a clear day with the same number. I hope everyone gets into an amazing school but right now one feels disheartened due to how long its been taking. I was told April first and now it is the first few weeks in April which is agrivating.
@ScaredofSchool Who told you April 1st?
I don’t remember, I think it was when I called but not certain.
