Deferred U Mich Ann Arbor Class of 2021

Either this next friday or the one after that (although maybe they’re doing thursdays now instead)

@Alex18Schultz
it’s good you applied to LSA, when I went on a tour they said the minimum required SAT math score for CoE was 650

So, do they only send out emails on Thursday’s or could it be any day?

Accepted COE, in-state on 2/9. Hopefully my stats may help reassure some people? I feel like, right now, they’re sending out decisions to people they felt like they’d accept but didn’t have enough time to thoroughly look at their app. From next week on, they might be sending out decisions to those whose midyear grades they’ve received, revised, and liked. This is just a hunch though.

ACT: 33, SAT: 1520, 8 AP classes, applied with a 3.97 GPA but have a 3.95 post first semester. They accepted me before they received my midyear grades, however. Played JV tennis for 3 years. Not much community service or leadership positions. Competed in various clubs, HOSA and DECA included. National Merit Semi-Finalist. Writing is my strong suite so I had relatively strong essays (from what other have told me, strong in voice and personality but, for example, in my Why UMich essay, I was a little weak in content). Took the subject tests for Math 2 and Physics following my deferral in February, and mentioned those in my LOCI (which I sent January 13th) as well as emphasized on my intent to go to Michigan, if accepted, and why I wanted to go to the college.

In terms of the letters I’ve received… my deferral letter was the one saying “Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants” and that they didn’t need anything else from me. The response to my LOCI was about 4 paragraphs and somewhere in there was a claim that the information would be used “to continue to advocate for my admission”

hopefully i could make some people feel better!

@BobbyTheBuilder you’re an in-state applicant though. Way easier than out of state. Your stats are also very good. I don’t see how this is reassuring at all.

@BobbyTheBuilder Really? Thats great. I as well did DECA. Just curious, how well did you do over the course of high school. You are the first person on here ive seen doing DECA and i am not too sure how much weight it carries. Personally I was an international finalist sophomore year and an international qualifier junior year.

Out of all the people who have been accepted so far, were you accepted on 2/9? Or has anyone been accepted before or after that?

@scubadiverman I was accepted that day as well. Not including Early Action, I’m pretty sure this has been the only day decisions have been released so far

Not expecting anything this week, maybe two weeks from now?

@Straightoutta7 Did they happen to mention the minimum ACT math subscore for CoE?

For those asking about the second wave I checked last year’s board and it seems like it will be the first Friday in March.

Not that I remember, I don’t think I payed attention because I hadn’t taken it

Personally i think we can expect more decisions. Nobody was accepted LSA instate Thursday which is probably the biggest number of applicants (could be wrong). At least for those applicants some decisions might be coming soon. The only people accepted were OOS and IS CoE.

@enginero I went to an event and I think they said 28 math.

@Alex18Schultz I did fine throughout high school, I guess. I took 1 AP sophomore year, 3 junior year, and 4 this year. I got a B in my first semester of both Calculus AB and BC. Personally, I’m not sure how much weight DECA or HOSA have either (I only did DECA for two years) but seeing as they are competitive clubs, and you’ve done exceptionally well in DECA, I think that could say a lot about your capabilities and work ethic

@jjjjjj14 I know that 2 people both got into LSA in-state a few days ago. The caveat is that I know for a fact 1 applied RD and I don’t know if the other got in EA or RD.

@jjjjjj14 no umich got 44,000 out of state applicants and only 11,000 in state applicants last year so way less in state ppl apply than out of state

@Eeeee127 It’s probably where most applications come from though. I’m assuming more people apply from Michigan than any other state.

@UofMorMSU I don’t know anyone that was deferred EA from LSA that was accepted last Thursday. I’m just clinging on to hope. The wait is killing me!

@jjjjjj14 I applied EA LSA (OOS applicant) and I was deferred. I was accepted last Thursday. Now you know someone. Lol
