Delivering goods using drones...

This can change retail.

One of my engineering/CS friends posted that on his Facebook feed. Very promising technology though they will need to deal with potential issues…such as drones dropping out of the sky* due to malfunctions, sudden loss of power/control, vandalistic attacks, hacking**, etc.

This incident as reported by some local newspapers happened during the sequestering when a drone suddenly lost power/control and crashed onto the street. Fortunately, no one was injured.

** Some of his friends are already discussing how “drones dropping packages on the heads of customers” could be a “useful feature” for those with less altruistic motives whether they’re prankster hackers or government/military operatives planning harassment campaigns against foreign agents or political/public figures a la Three Stooges/Bugs Bunny/Woody Woodpecker type comedies.

Brava, Jeff!!! Standing ovation. Carpet-bombing the consumer with cheap crap.

First proposed by TacoCopter.com at least a year ago… (See this article: <a href=“The Marketing Genius of TacoCopter - The Atlantic”>The Marketing Genius of TacoCopter - The Atlantic; for example.)

I think the biggest problem is likely to be people stealing the drones as they make deliveries.
