Just confirming everything @miswestmomofboys is saying. My son is a sophomore at Denison and the experience has been fantastic for him and for our family.
@inthegarden You mentioned your daughter’s need to get her math test scores up so I wanted to point out that Denison is test optional! Keep that in mind if you feel her scores are not indicative of her potential or on par with other potential applications.
My D20 will be attending in the fall! She’s a full IB Diploma candidate, good gpa, test optional, did ‘Why Denison’ optional essay, and interviewed. I really feel that all those contributed to her getting accepted. Fantastic financial aid package, too!
Thank you, @lacmom71, I’ll keep that in mind. I’m so glad it worked out well for your D! Is she excited?
My conundrum, though, is that my D has very lopsided scores and her ERW is exceptionally high with a low math score. Since she won’t be a STEM student I’d hate for her to “waste” the ERW (780) to go test-optional. She has all A grades in honors math (doing trig/pre-Calc now and will do Calc AB) so she’s competent if not especially mathy. So I would like her to get the math just high enough (well into the mid-50 percentiles) that it doesn’t raise eyebrows so she can use that ERW. I forget offhand what the 25/75 math score range for Denison is (have looked up scores for so many schools I can’t remember them all). She may be within that range for Denison math now but just barely. I think she’ll be OK if she raises it just 4o points or so.
Hope all of the Denison admitted students have had the opportunity to see this video tour of campus! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLRh8gS9Kuo&feature=youtu.be
Waitlisted for Denison but received a near full-ride at Centre College so will be attending there. Good luck to all still waiting to hear, and congratulations to all those who got in!
Anyone here Heard already about Denison University concerning the waiting list ?
