Is the DePaul Theater School stage management program hard to get into and if so why? Also what should I be doing to help me get into the program?

DePaul only accepts 4 SM students per year but the number of applicants varies from around 8 to 15. With such a small number of acceptances, a slight increase or decrease in applications will change your chances dramatically.

Acceptances are based mostly on portfolio and interview. You need to document your experience and be prepared to discuss everything at length.

Should I be doing shows and internships? This is my number one choice and I just want to know what I can do to help my chances. Thank you for your first response!

Send me a PM if you want.

Hi there,

I’m in the BFA acting program at DePaul, but I have friends in SM program and it is a very small program in terms of class size. To your question “Should I be doing shows and internships?” the answer is yes! though the length of your resume won’t necessarily make or break your application, the more experience you have in your field and the more you know about it will really help, especially in your interview! (which is the most important component of the application process at DePaul) My two close friends who are freshman in the stage management program this year, both had a really impressive background in SM, so it can definitely only help!

Do you know what the interview is like? I have done several shows and two internships? This is my number one school I want to go to.
