I just googled Einstein today and clicked on the link about his son. His son Hans Einstein was a professor of hydraulic engineering at Berkeley… wow

I’ve never seen Berkeley capitalize on that…? xD Or maybe I’ve just never read it. I googled and clicked on the first few hits (wikipedia, lol, but I was surprised a link by Berkeley itself didn’t show up) and, apparently, Einstein’s grandson (Hans’ son?) also either taught at Cal or attended it. I wonder if it’s true…?

Also, I just recently read somewhere that friggin Oppenheimer taught at Berkeley??

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/19/us/19einstein.html

Einstein’s granddaughter (Han’s adopted daughter) “spoke four or five languages and earned degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, including a master’s in medieval literature.”

And yes Oppenheimer did teach at Berkeley… and aside from all these physicists, don’t forget Berkeley pretty much invented chemistry lol

Go bears!

Yay!! And I was in Alex Filippenko’s class today; it was awesome to hear him talk about astronomy, and some of the stuff he had studied about dark matter, his research, etc.

I think there are a lot pics of Oppenheimer around Lewis

I definitely knew about Oppenheimer, but I had no idea about Einstein’s son! That’s super cool.

So did the Unabomber. And Cory Hall was the only building bombed twice by him.

Plutonium was discovered in a small office on the 3rd floor of Gilman Hall. There is a plaque outside the door.

LeConte hall also has a plaque outside a room…something about lasers but I forget what.
