Love the place (my first choice if I get in) but can you imagine… It’d be like the Da Vinci Code’s Opus Dei but instead of beating themselves with bloody whips while reciting Latin they’d beat themselves with bloody whips while reciting Latin, Calculus, and English Lit phrases.
I can see it now… Students willing to do anything to get into Exeter and to do anything FOR Exeter.</p>

<p>They say that GOD created the universe using the laws of physics - ‘divine mathmatical laws’ supposedly govern the Universe. Well we all know that Exeter is famous for it’s math program … no wonder GOD is so damn good at math but hey he was at exeter I doubt he was number one in his class with the math buffons there… </p>

It’s not like it’s in the middle of the amazon and you actually have to worry about cellphone coverage and it’s not like they offer special ‘andover rates’ so like get real … (i bet half the people that make thee forums really just want to show of the fact that they go to andover in a suttle way - we see right through pretentious people). PLus if you need other people to tell you what clothes to bring why the heck are you going to boarding school ?? I mean your just switching your independence on your parents to independnce on your peers!! I mean get real people!! Ask about classes, activities, freindships, teachers, not the Bull that seems to be dominating these servers of recent. </p>

<p>i think questions about cell phones/printers are legitimate. i know people who only get cell phone reception on one street, and people who’ve panicked looking for a printer at 6 am. this forum is for getting info that isn’t presented on the websites. and sorry if you’re interpreting the threads as pretentious, i guess. but your posts are kind of annoying when people are actually trying to get/give info and not just drop names. personally i thought the "ivy’ thing was mentioned on the printer thread because ivies are probably more similar to prep schools than state universities.</p>

<p>Nice try at a cover up but the wounds are still wide open. I bet that even you do not really believe that these posts are not pretentious. Particularly the Andvoer VS Exeter posts. If you read my posts you would realize that I was criticizing the way the readers ‘slipped’ self congratulatory statements into their psots. I mean the ivy league reference had NOTHING to do with the posts despite your insistance that it does. The post was obviously an excercise in self glorification. Asking about printers, though trivial, is not a huge crime in itself it’s the fact that people are acting so pretentious that annoys me most. You’re tarnishing Exeter’s great reputation with your ridiculously pretentious posts. I think we should have a seperate thread just for trivial pretentious questions and arguments (andover vs exeter, Exeter is the best, etc).</p>

<p>You’re entitled to your opinions, but I’m not the only one who is tired of the pretentiousness on these threads. Because threads such as the printer thread get loads of attention good useful threads such as NMH prediction are left to die where people cannot view them. It’s a waste of space, pollution to the web rays, counter-productive, and it hurts Exeter’s great image. All I was doing is pointing that simple fact out. If the people that make these pretentious threads actually continue this behavior at Exeter they will be fried as outcasts so I’m just helping them realize the errors of their ways now before they ruin their reputations and more importantly the reputation of a great institution.</p>
