Did nothing extracurricular my freshman year in college, am I screwed?

I didn’t do anything pre-med related my freshman year of college and I didn’t get involved in any clubs either. Am I hurt in the long run?

Thank you.

same here…
I did some things my freshman year - but nothing Adcoms want to hear about

Yes, your application is hurt. No, your application is not screwed. You need to make up for this weakness in your application, somehow.

Can’t you just do more the next few years?

That would be how you make it up. Yet, med schools will still want to see long term commitment, not just you loading up on EC’s as application time approaches.

Didn’t you want to do anything involving medicine? Are you that interested in a medical profession?

I realized I wanted to be pre-med after my freshman year.

No, of course you’re not hurt in the long run. Start packing on extracurriculars with substance now. You have all of sophomore, junior, and part of senior year to expand that CV.

What are some good ECs for premeds besides hospital/research work?

I feel you. I decided to become pre-med after freshman year and had no pre-med ECs either though I did have other non-premed ECs.
