Did you get the Presidential alert?

We just checked our phones too. The settings are the same for Emergency Alerts.

Some AT&T and T-Mobile users lost the ability to use data and apps after the alert:

DH and I got the alert on our Samsung phones. I asked him to check something else on mine before I had a chance to look at it and the alert disappeared. When we went looking, we found it wasn’t in “Notifications,” but in “Connections” – under “More connection settings” waaaay at the bottom. Only after clicking on that was there an “Emergency alerts” section. That’s more a phone and user thing more than anything else, I guess. User things happen a lot with my phone.

DS2 has a flip phone on our plan and did not get the alert. DS1 is on his own plan and did get it; phone was on silent and the alert did not override that.

Ah, that’s why my apps stopped working and had to be removed and reloaded. Thanks for this info. I hope we don’t get more of these great tests, or worse, random tweets that are alerts. :frowning:

@HImom I liked the phrase “mysterious disruption.” :-S

My phone has been acting up since the alert. Not connecting to our internet, even not listing our network. No apps on screen. DH, with the exact same phone, has had no such issues.

@HouseChatte Thanks for letting me know where to find those! The last one I have is a Flash Flood Warning from May 22nd. Prior to that it was two Amber Alerts from Feb 2017 and Dec 2016.

Now I wonder how many other Emergency Alerts my phone doesn’t feel like telling me about. H isn’t here right now, but I’ll have him compare his phone later. We aren’t always together, but often we are - esp when traveling. I could be wrong, but I think there have been more alerts than my phone has.

As mentioned before, when we checked our Emergency Alert settings last night, they are identical.

When we get home (possibly Sunday), I’ll see if I can remember to check the settings with my lad too. He’s only been somewhat at home with us since late May so the alerts there could be very different, but I’m curious about the settings.

ETA: No disruption at all in either of our phones, but we’re with Verizon.

DH has not had any disruptions in his phone since getting the alert. I-phone, A T & T.

That’s weird and disturbing.

H just came in. He’s had the Presidential Alert and 4 other Flood Warning alerts going back to July - none of which I have on my phone. All of those should have come to both of us. We double checked our settings. They’re identical.

Apparently my phone feels I’m not worthy of alerting. Now I’m very curious as to why. Since I only got one Flood Warning in May, then nothing back to 2017, something’s off.

We can’t figure out if there’s a way to see beyond the last five alerts. His has all five just from July. Mine only has three back to 2016.

I suppose if there ever is a situation causing an emergency I’d better be close to either H or one of my sons to get notification. That feels very, um, wrong. Makes me think I’m in a different century or one of a handful of countries I’m not particularly fond of.

Thankfully, no! I powered off off my phone; idk if that helped or not!
