“Don’t microwave your iPhone”

Somehow this is not sounding good…

I am finding the 6 just a little too large for my hands to reach fully across the screen. I have also found myself accidentally activating features I didn’t know existed. Entertaining at this point and immensely enjoying the upgrade from the three year old phone.

I don’t like buying phones till there are cases out, cause I need a case.
I am really liking my faux bookbook case.
If I lose my wallet I can track it down!

@emeraldkity4 - the Apple store had cases that fit snugly and fully covered back and sides of phone. I didn’t notice any of the wallet type of cases that close like an old notepad. The Apple cases came in silicone or leather but the silicone seemed to offer a better grip.

There are already a gazillion cases available on Amazon. Mine is safely sitting in a case. It arrived yesterday (Sunday)

New problem surfaced-- could be the Iphone 6 or the IOS8. We had it solved with the last upgrade. We are all on Iphones except DS#1 who used to have an iphone but is now on an android. When we do group chats, it goes out on imessage and he doesnt get it. I can send him and individual text and he gets it, and he can see everyone elses messages in the imessage but mine. Dont know if anyone else updated to ios8 yet so that may be the problem with the imessage. I tried deleting and re-entering his contact info. that didnt fix it. He has already spoken with apple and taken himself off their imessage records. That fixed it before. Anyone else having this issue?

Battery and wifi connectivity issues? My, that sounds just like the fives! I think I’m going to hold on to my old phone for a bit.

Well I’m looking for the case for iPhone 6 plus first before I get the phone.

There are plenty on line (for the 6 and 6 plus) . I bought an inexpensive one just to have one (It is this http://www.amazon.com/iPhone-LUVVITT®-Screen-Double-Absorbing/dp/B00JYKGDD0 ) so can replace it if I want. I would prefer more rubber around the edge to grip onto so will see how it goes.

** Just noticed the case price is 30% higher than when I bought it over the weekend. Its still cheap, though.

Apple Store always has a pretty crappy selection of cases, in our area.
Even for laptops I had to order from Amazon.
I don’t get my earbuds there either, and now that even the local Fred Meyer carries cables, I don’t have to go all the way across town unless I need a * genius*
I don’t like iMessage, I just use texts.
I don’t understand the point of iMessage, unless you are paying for texts individually.

imessage is how the texts go between iphone users

iMessage allows to text between iPhones using wifi.

I understand that, but wifi is spottier than data transmission where I & D are.

My OtterBox case arrives tomorrow, and, unfortunately, I’m leaving on a business trip today. I have my shiny, gold iPhone 6 in a nasty Vera Bradley cloth pouch.

The iphone 6 does not have that option to hold down the text box and send as text msg. At least not that I can find. When you click on it and it gives “other” as an option, it hust puts a checkmark by the text

jym,

Look under Settings>Messages>Send as SMS and turn that on. This will allow messages to go though as a text if iMessage is not available.

I’m getting a new phone this week. Currently have android (thinking new Galaxy S5), but willing to consider an iPhone 6. I use the phone for calls and texts, email, internet (especially this forum), calendar, Pandora (have ipod but never loaded songs on phone before, will do now). At the risk of starting a war, which phone will be better for me?

A phone is a deeply personal preference, in my opinion. I have Androids, and I wouldn’t do an iPhone, but it comes down to preference. Ultimately, you can do those things on both phones. I would do some research on this. You probably will get some bias towards Apple on a thread of Apple users, just because that’s what works for them.

I will be getting my son an iPhone 5, the cheaper one is 99 cents with a two-year contract and the expensive one is 99 dollars with a two-year contract (with our current phone and internet provider).

Weeks ago, I was thinking of getting him one, and the kind person at the phone company said to wait for the new ones, and the prices would drop, which they did by about 100 dollars.

@snowball , “Look under Settings>Messages>Send as SMS and turn that on. This will allow messages to go though as a text if iMessage is not available.”

The problem is convincing IOS that iMessage is not available for THAT message recipient. I had this problem and finally (and not on the first “genius” appointment) it was fixed for IOS 7.

If the problem persists, I would use WhatsApp for messaging/texting with non-Apple users. It might not be as convenient as iMessage, but it works very well.

I have the 5c, which is the cheaper one, and I like it. As far as I can tell, the only thing it doesn’t have is the fingerprint scanner, which I didn’t really want.
